Charles-Eric Benoit sent packing in 14th

Charles-Eric Benoit has seen his stack fluctuate quite a bit in this Day 3 of The Wild $150, however he was crippled in a recent hand, and although he managed to rebuild himself a little, he was eventually eliminated as his Ace of Hearts Jack of Diamonds couldn’t overcome the Ace of Diamonds Queen of Clubs of Said Michailidis.

    14th place: Charles-Eric Benoit – $1,410

    Garzon, Khalil next to go

The eliminations are coming fast in this final day of The Wild $150, and we’ve just lost two more players.

On the short end of the spectrum, Fabian Garzon moved in from utg, and found himself heads-up against Stephane Chartrand.

Fabian: 6 of Hearts 6 of Clubs

Stephane: Jack of Spades Jack of Hearts

Board: 10 of Clubs Ace of Spades 8 of Spades 5 of Hearts Ace of Diamonds

    16th place: Fabian Garzon – $1,100

Moments later, Randy Khalil was all-in on the other table with AKo versus the pair of KK of Isham Yamani, and failed to improve to finish in 15th place.

Kathy Sawers just took most of Christien Beaudoin’s chips and quite a few more than that, pushing her close to the 2M mark.

There was a UTG raise to 130K to start the action from Benoit Campeau. Kathy followed up by going all in for 820K, and Christien went all-in himself for 855K – building a very enticing pot for the three huge stacks left with live hands and some chips already committed in the form of the blinds.

One by one they folded, however, including Benoit, leaving just Kathy and Christien to battle it out.

Kathy: Ace of Clubs Queen of Hearts
Christien: King of Spades King of Clubs

The flop was pretty safe for the pocket Kings: 7 of Hearts 8 of Clubs 6 of Hearts. The turn Queen of Clubs gave Kathy a couple of more outs and may have been an omen of what was to come – the Ace of Hearts on the river gave her the hand and an extra 1.1M (give or take) in her stack.

Edward Hakim loses a flip to place 17th

Edward Hakim just lost a huge flip versus Stephane Chartrand, as he found his last 1 million in chips in the middle with Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts versus 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs. With no help on the board, Edward’s deep run ended in 17th place.

    Lauzon grows some more

Philippe Lauzon started the day with just under 800K but after his double through Randy Khalil he was in a much better position and he has just eliminated Mario Page to move to among the chip leaders in Event 1.

Charles-Eric Benoit started the action by raising to 145K from middle position, following which Mario went all-in. Philippe didn’t have to think long before he went all-in for more, and Charles-Eric got out of the way.

Mario: Ace of Hearts King of Spades
Philippe: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Community cards: 6 of Spades 5 of Spades 9 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds

    18th place: Mario Page, $1,100

    Final two tables

We’ve just lost Marie Tran in 19th place, which brings The Wild $150 down to it’s final two tables. Taking advantage of an unopened pot, Marie moved her last ~10 big blinds from the small blind. Unfortunately for her, she ran into a brick wall, as her Queen of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds was matched up versus the Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades of Edward Hakim in the big blind. She burst out in laughter when the dealer rung out a board of Ace of Diamonds Ace of Clubs 8 of Hearts 2 of Spades Queen of Hearts, and made her way to the cashiers with still a smile on her face.

Here are the final two tables:

By the time we got to the table it looked like a pretty straight forward situation: a relatively short-stacked Philippe Lauzon was all-in with Jack of Spades 7 of Hearts against much-greater-stacked Randy Khalil, who had turned over Ace of Hearts Ace of Diamonds.

The community cards didn’t cooperate, at least as far as Randy was concerned: 8 of Spades Queen of Diamonds 9 of Spades gave Philippe a gutshot draw, and though the Queen of Hearts on the turn didn’t help, the 10 of Spades on the river certainly did. Randy shipped 705K to his neighbour to his right on the hand.

Local player Siamak S has been the first player eliminated on Day 3 of The Wild $150.

    Siamak S

    Siamak S

Siamak was on the button, and in the fateful hand Christien Beaudoin open shoved his ~765K stack from under-the-gun. Action folded around to the button, and Siamak went all-in for less (~315K). Olivier Millet thought for a few seconds but elected to fold.

Christien: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
Siamak: 6 of Hearts 6 of Clubs

Christien’s dominant hand just got better on the flop of King of Spades Ace of Spades 8 of Spades, and although the 7 of Spades removed any chance that Siamak could win, it did add chop outs to the mix. It was not to be. The river was the 8 of Diamonds and Siamak was eliminated in 24th place ($800).

Just one hand later, Olivier was also eliminated when his 10 of Hearts Jack of Hearts couldn’t draw out against Stephane Chartrand’s flopped set (holding 4 of Spades 4 of Clubs) on a 5 of Clubs Queen of Hearts 4 of Hearts board. The 2 of Diamonds King of Clubs didn’t bring the flush and Olivier was out in 23rd ($800).

Since then, we’ve also lost Pascal Destines, Roman Mikhailov, and Mathieu Gagniere.

We’ve reached the final chapter of The Wild $150, and 24 players are back to battle it out on the felts, but only one will emerge as Champion of Event 1, which is accompanied with a Playground Poker Spring Classic bracelet, and a cool $28,780 cash prize!

Benoit Campeau (3,095,000) is coming in with the chip lead, and he holds quite the lead over the rest of the field, as second in chips is Stephane Chartrand with 1,980,000. Said Michailidis is also in very good shape to start day 3, as he bagged 1,785,00 chips last night.

Isham Yamani (1,350,000) is on his third deep run in “The Wild $150 series”, as he’s previously finished in 7th and 20th places in the last two festivals held at Playground Poker Club, and is surely looking to close the deal this time around.

There are many familiar faces left in the field as well, as many local regulars are still in contention. We will be bringing you live updates throughout the night, so stay tuned!

    Good luck!
