Event 12 Champion: Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque

2015/05/04 - 1:57 by Playground Poker

Event 12 Champion: Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque

Somewhere near the middle of this final table, Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque went on a heater, and never looked back. Combine this with his good decision making and excellent reads, and it is no doubt that he was the last man standing in this ‘Shootout” event!

In the last hand of play versus heads-up adversary Robert Notkin, who won last year’s Canada Cup Main Event for $366,660, Alexandre opened from the small blind to 65,000, and was followed by a call from Robert. On a flop of 6 of Spades 7 of Clubs 10 of Hearts, Robert check-shoved his ~300,000 stack, which Alexandre called off.

Holding 5 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds, Robert needed some help to survive versus the Ace of Spades 7 of Diamonds of Alexandre, however the running 5 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds was not enough to double him up, and he was eliminated in the process. With that win, Alexandre pocketed $3,340, as well as a Playground Poker Spring Classic bracelet!

Congratulations!

After having busted David Dusome in 4th palce just moments ago with KK, Alexandre was dealt the same premium once again! This time it was even more of a cooler, as chips went in on a flop where both he and Bill Kontaratos flopped a set!

Alexandre: King of Hearts King of Spades

Bill: 10 of Spades 10 of Diamonds

Community cards: Ace of Hearts 10 of Hearts King of Diamonds Jack of Clubs 9 of Diamonds

With this elimination, we are now heads-up between Alexandre (~1,150,000) and Robert Notkin (~200,000).

Alexandre has been on a tear here on this final table of Event 12, having knocked out most players who dare cross his path. In this last hand, he opened from the button, and snapped when David went all-in from the big blind.

Alexandre: King of Clubs King of Diamonds

David: 8 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds

David had some outs on the flop, but whiffed as the dealer rung out a board of 5 of Spades 6 of Hearts 7 of Hearts 3 of Clubs 3 of Spades, and for the second night in a row, David was eliminated off the final table holding a pair of eights versus a pair of kings.

    4th place: David Dusome – $1,000

Sitting on a very short stack in the big blind, Melanie didn’t have much of a choice but to call all-in once Alexandre moved in on her from the small blind.

Alexandre: Ace of Clubs 6 of Clubs

Melanie: 10 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds

Alexandre’s ace-high was good on the 4 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs King of Hearts 3 of Hearts board to bring us down to 4 players.

Hiyaw Gebreyohannes tried a squeeze play from the small blind, after Robert Notkin opened to 25,000 from under the gun, and Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque flat called from middle position. He managed to make Robert let go of his hand, but Alexandre looked him up.

Hiyaw: Ace of Clubs 4 of Clubs

Alexandre: 7 of Clubs 7 of Hearts

With no help on the 6 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 9 of Spades 10 of Hearts 9 of Hearts board, Hiyaw was sent home in 6th place, while Alexandre chipped up by over 240,000.

Facing an open to 16,000 from Bill Kontaratos, who was under the gun, Gary Thompson pulled the trigger with his final 78,000 from the button. When action got back to Bill, he went into the tank for a minute, and finally made the call.

Gary: 8 of Spades 8 of Clubs

Bill: Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts

Bill connected on the Jack of Diamonds King of Diamonds King of Hearts 6 of Spades Ace of Spades board to eliminate Gary in 7th place.

Sitting on the button and facing an unopened pot preflop, Justin Dean raised to 15,000. Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque 3bet from the big blind to 40,000, and was put to a decision when Justin moved all-in for 99,000. After a moment in the tank, he committed the calling chips, and they were in a race.
