Second Chance Champion: Jason Conforti

2015/05/05 - 23:29 by Playground Poker

Second Chance Champion: Jason Conforti

When heads-up play began between Jason Conforti and Ratharam Sivagnanam, Jason was more than a 2-to-1 underdog. There was a lot of back and forth between the two, but within a few orbits Jason managed to grind his stack into the lead.

On the final hand of play, Ratharam opened from the small blind, and then 4bet just over 1 million chips total after a 3bet to 100,000 from Jason, who made the call. When they tabled their hands, they realized they were virtually flipping for the bracelet, as Ratharam showed a pair of 4 of Clubs 4 of Spades, and Jason opened Ace of Hearts Queen of Clubs. Jason spiked the window card to take the lead, and his top pair earned him the pot on the 7 of Spades 3 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs 5 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds board. When the dealer counted the stacks, he announced that Jason had Ratharam covered by a mere 40,000 in chips, making him our Event 13 champion!

Jason earned $37,105 for his victory, and is now the proud owner of a Playground Poker Spring Classic bracelet! Ratharam received a consolation prize of $25,970.

Congratulations!

Steven Buckner had been pulling the trigger quick vigorously these past few orbits, so it’s no surprise Ratharam decided to look up his 177,000 open-shove. It was a pair vs pair situation though, and Steven had the edge.

Steven: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Spades

Ratharam: 7 of Clubs 7 of Hearts

With no danger on the Ace of Spades 10 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts board, Steven doubled back to a healthy 30BB+ stack.

Ratharam Sivagnanam has just extended his lead on this final table of the Second Chance, as he got three-streets of value in a battle of the blinds. He opened preflop from the small blind, and was followed by Andrew Hinrichsen. On a board showing Jack of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 3 of Spades 7 of Clubs 6 of Hearts, Ratharam fired 30,000 – 55,000 – 150,000 on each respective street, and was paid off by Andrew. Once the river bet was called, Ratharam tabled 7 of Hearts 7 of Spades for a set of sevens, and climber to over 1 million with that pot.

    Dunn runs into aces

    Robert Logan Dunn

Jason Conforti opened from under the gun, and was called by Ratharam on the button, and Robert Logan Dunn in the big blind. Both Logan and Jason checked the 6 of Spades 9 of Diamonds Queen of Spades flop, and Ratharam took the lead by betting 36,000. Logan came over the top, pushing his 166,000 stack into the middle, and was quickly called by Ratharam once Jason let go of his cards.

Logan: Queen of Diamonds 10 of Spades

Ratharam: Ace of Diamonds Ace of Spades

Logan picked up a bunch of outs when the 8 of Diamonds peeled on the turn, but the river 9 of Clubs sealed the win for Ratharam, eliminating Logan in the process.

    5th place: Robert Logan Dunn – $9,275
