Event 4 Champion: Rejean Grenier!

Event 4, a $100 + $10 Deepstack Turbo 1-day event that started this afternoon, attracted a total of 136 players, which is not bad for a Monday afternoon! When all was said and done, it was Rejean Grenier who was crowned champion, as he overcame heads-up opponent Jody Miall to take down the Playground Poker Spring Classic bracelet, and the $2,893 prize that came along with it!

Congratulations!

    Just 8 remain

There are just 8 players left in Event 4, the $100 + $10 Deepstack Turbo event that started today at noon. Play has been very quick for some time now, and players are now returning from what is certain to be their final break of the day.

There has been no discussion about a deal of any kind since the bubble save agreement, so play will continue as the blinds continue to grow.

It’s relatively irregular in an event such as this, but when the players reached the money bubble an agreement was quickly reached to take $182 off the first prize to award to the player exiting in 15th place. The entire discussion and decision – even across 2 tables – took less than 2 minutes and play continued.

The field in Event 4 has gone down to just 20 players, who were seated around 2 tables – and very quickly the field lost 3 more players as we approach the money, which will be reached when 14 players remain. There will be a full redraw before the final table of 10 players.

Full speed ahead in Event 4

The players in Event 4 are taking another break as tournament staff removes the blue T500 chips from play. The last session saw the field drop more than half of the players still active at that time, and there are just 25 players remaining including quite a few short stacks.

At the head of the leaderboard is Daniel Gagnon, who at one point was down to as few as 2400 chips (from a 25K starting stack). Daniel has had remarkable success in daily tournaments at Playground Poker Club and is a fixture atop the Tournament Leader Board, a promotion that runs every month for tournament players.

Players in today’s Deepstack Turbo (Event 4) have taken their second break of the day and as expected, a few of them have managed to build up some pretty huge stacks. No one has broken the 100K mark, but the leaders are right on the edge of this threshold.

    2. Michael Hunter – 96K

Event 4 has proved to be very popular as the published capacity for this afternoon’s tournament (100) was reached shortly after the event began. Tournament staff has already opened an additional table so just about everyone is being seated now, and as usual we will do everything we can to accommodate everyone who wishes to play today.
