Tonight in the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net is the first of 3 Bounty tournaments in this year’s festival, the $100 + $20 + $100 50/50 Bounty tournament. As the name and the way the buy-in is expressed indicates, this is a special kind of bounty tourney in which half of a player’s buy-in goes to the prize pool to be awarded at the end of the evening, while the other half goes to a $100 bounty chip that each player keeps with his or her stack. When a player is eliminated, they lose not only their stack but this bounty chip as well. Players can thus accumulate bounty chips throughout the tournament, one per player they knock out of the tourney – and at $100 each, it can add up!
Bounty tournaments are very popular here at Playground Poker Club, and the exaggerated bounty in this version of the format only seems to make it more popular. Late registration is open until the end of the break following level 4, which means that players can buy-in and receive a full stack until just around 9:00pm tonight.
Players start with 20K in tournament chips and blind levels are 20 minutes long. This is a one-day tournament, so whatever happens, it will wrap up in the early morning hours of the 27th with a champion.
