Players are being eliminated at a rapid pace here deep in Day 2 of The Wild $150, as the 234 players field has been reduced to just 73. Play will continue until the final 27 has been reached, and for now the man in charge is Thierry Blanc, who just scooped a big pot bringing him over the 820,000 chip mark. Kevin Daily has been chipping up recently as well, as he has climbed to the 775,000 chip mark. Jean-Sebastien Dore is maintaining his spot amongst the leaders, and sits in a healthy third place with roughly 750,000 to his name, while Robert Ouellet has increased his holdings up to 675,000 – good for fourth place.

There will be a short break in about 35 minutes, during which we will bring a more detailed update on the leaderboard.

With only 129 players left in play, the bubble is just around the corner. As we alluded to earlier, the beginning of a Day 2 in an event such as this one is quite volatile, with early eliminations coming at a very rapid pace. Several players have taken advantage of this volatility and have managed to chip up significantly in the early going.

Michael Malm started the night with under 150K but now is playing over 320K
Maxime Theroux has built up his stack to over 350K after starting with just 195K
Tanvir Ahmed started with 167K and is now playing well over 300K
Mathieu Boulanger-Vaugeois began with a healthy 285K but has grown that to over 350K

The next break is in just under an hour during which we’ll put together a full leaderboard – though by then, there are certain to be several players with over 500K in play.

Day 2 of The Wild $150 has passed through its first full level of the night and, as expected, the action has been very quick as short stacked players have tried to double up early to continue with more competitive chip counts. The day started with 234 players, and after 35 minutes, just 203 remained at the tables.

The money bubble will be pierced when the player in 118th place is eliminated, so the players are still a long way off from bubble play… but with the pace of the tournament so far, it’s clear that the more experienced players are making a concerted effort to chip up even now.

After four action-packed starting flights, The Wild $150 has reached Day 2, and all the qualifying players through the four first flights are now reunited in the Tournament Hall here at Playground Poker Club.

This kickoff event to the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net saw a combined total of 1168 entries, smashing the $100,000 guarantee boasted by the house. Action will continue until the field of 234 players is reduced to only 3 final tables – making up the final 27. Players will then bag and tag their chips onto tomorrow’s final, where our Event 1 champion will be crowned.

There are many familiar faces in the field, as well as some past final-tableist of this very same event, including Isham Yamani (3rd in Spring of 2015, and 7th in Fall of 2014), Nick-Real Seide (2nd in Spring 2013, and 4th in Winter of 2016) Simon-Pier Grondin (5th in Fall of 2013), Tony Stratopoulos (4th in Spring of 2014), Michael Malm (9th in Spring of 2014), Felix Sides (9th in Spring of 2013), Jennifer Brooks (4th in 2013), and George Kazarian (3rd in August of 2015).

Other notables found in the field include the likes of George Caragiorgas, who had a deep run in the WSOP Main Event in 2009 (finishing in 20th place), and also placed third earlier this year in a side event at the PCA. Alexandre Blanc, who placed 12th in the 2014 WPT Montreal, is also in the field, as well as WSOP-Bracelet winner Michael Malm.

Along with a massive $28,000 cash prize, the winner of this event will also be taking home a Playground Poker Spring Classic Champion’s Trophy, immortalizing his or her victory.

All four starting days in The Wild $150 are now complete and of the 1,168 entries in the event, 235 players qualified for Day 2. There was a single player – Richard Sysko – who qualified for Day 2 through 2 different Day 1s, so the smaller of his two qualifying stacks (80,000) has been removed from the tournament and he will re-start the tournament with his best qualifying stack (168,000). This means that there will be 234 players that re-start the tourney on Day 2

The following is the official seating chart for Day 2, which is set to resume at 7:00pm on Wednesday April 20th. Play resumes in level 15, and when the tournament resumes, play will be 9-handed.

Note that these are player-recorded chip count totals. The actual chips have been sealed in bags which will be opened by the players to be returned to play on Day 2.
