Kathy Sawers is the Champion of Event 2!

2016/04/22 - 6:38 by Playground Poker

Kathy Sawers is the Champion of Event 2!

By the time play got heads up between Kathy Sawers and Garen Galanti, the lead was shifting from one player to the other. One player would take a slight lead – only to give it away shortly following. The chips were moving back and forth – to the extent that both players kicked around the idea of an additional deal between them, though no agreement was made.

After 10 hours of play in an event that proved to be a big success with 179 players, Event 2 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net ended with Kathy Sawers as the champion! A fact worthy of note – in the 2 events that have concluded so far in the Spring Classic, both winners have been women. Congratulations!

Event 2 Results

2016/04/22 - 6:31 by Playground Poker

These are the official results of Event 2 in the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net. The tournament was a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em Freeze. This was a one-day event.

Note there was a player deal made at 6 players remaining. The participants chose to reserve $700 plus the Champion’s trophy for the winner and distribute the rest of the remaining prize money via ICM Chop. This accounts for the fact that players with lower rankings had higher prizes in some cases.

With only about 6bb left, Mathieu went all-in with Q-J to be called by a pair of fours, and Mathieu couldn’t improve.

Ron Corber was the table captain before the final table came together, but found a great deal more difficulty once they reached the last segment of the tourney. A nice flop for him disguised the strength of his hand and he played his draw aggressively against Mathieu’s pair of Kings – but couldn’t get the run out he needed to stay alive.

Ron: 4 of Spades 5 of Spades

Mathieu Boulanger-Vaugeois: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
