The players in Event 2 have returned from their second break of the night and during the break we found 2 clear chip leaders in the tournament – but with quite a few player not too far behind.

The current chip leaders are Mathieu Boulanger-Vaugeois with 135K (or more, he won a pot just before the break and his chips weren’t well stacked) and George Caragiorgas, with 102K.

We’ll have much more coverage of this event as it winds its way to a conclusion later tonight.

Level 3 is winding down in Event 2, and although there have already been 158 players who have taken their seats, additional players continue to join – so many that there is a small alternates list of players waiting for a spot in the tourney!

Of the 158 who have joined so far, 154 still remain, indicating that play seems to be starting relatively slowly as players ease their way in to the event. Of course the whole challenge of tournament poker is that such conservative play can’t continue as players come under pressure from the rising blinds and antes… an effect that’s sure to kick in soon!

    Welcome to Event 2!

    Welcome to Event 2!

As The Wild $150 draws to a close, the curtain lifts on the rest of the Playground Poker Spring Classic schedule – and the next event out of the blocks is Event 2, a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em Freeze that gets underway at 7:30pm tonight!

As a freezeout tournament, this kind of event is tournament poker in it’s classical form – one buy-in per player, no rebuys, no re-entry. Players each start with a 20K stack and the only way to accumulate more chips is to win them from opponents in the tourney.

Late registration in the event is open until the end of the break following level 4, which is to say that you can join the fun all the way until 9:00pm tonight. Based on past history, players will be joining the event right until the end of late reg, so even if participation numbers are modest in level 1, it’s almost certain that the final count of participants has contributed to a very healthy prize pool.

    Good luck to everyone tonight!
