    16th place: Tedde Ballanger

    Tedde Ballanger

Bob T was faced with an all-in raise from Tedde Ballanger, who pushed from late position for just under 350,000. He looked down at two paint-cards, and decided to make the call for a few blinds more.

Bob: King of Spades Jack of Clubs

Tedde: Ace of Hearts 8 of Clubs

The river was kind to Bob, as he paired just enough on the 3 of Spades 7 of Clubs 8 of Spades 5 of Spades Jack of Diamonds board to send Tedde home in 16th place.

    16th place: Tedde Ballanger – $1,900.00

    17th place: Rene Berube

    Rene Berube

With under 700,000 to his name, Rene Berube was taking advantage of an unopened-pot in late by moving all-in from the cutoff. Action folded to Azim Lavji in the big blind, who made the call.

Rene: King of Hearts Jack of Spades

Azim: Jack of Clubs Jack of Diamonds

Board: 3 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts 2 of Hearts 3 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

The dealer did a quick count of both stacks, and Azim had Rene covered by a hair.

    17th place: Rene Berube – $1,900.00

    Jean-Manuel Estrala

Action went 3-way to the flop between Glen Hammers (big blind), Jean-Manuel Estrala (early-position) and Duy Toan Pham (middle-position). On a 2 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 5 of Clubs flop, Jean-Manuel and Duy went into a raising war which resulted in two black “all-in” cards being thrown on the table, while Glen quietly got out of the way.

    Jean-Manuel: 3 of Hearts 3 of Spades

Duy: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds

The turn 8 of Diamonds and river 9 of Spades brought no change to the hand, and Duy added over a million to his already impressive stack.

    18th place: Jean-Manuel Estrala – $1,900.00

Two more eliminations bring us down to 2 tables

    Arnold Yaxley

E3D2-7399Arnold Yaxley was trying to stage a monster comeback after being crippled by Bob a few orbits ago. He was left with just over 1bb when he went on a winning-spree, growing his stack from 40K to over 500K – until he eventually found himself all-in and flipping for over 1 million.

Arnold: King of Diamonds Queen of Hearts
Duy: 6 of Spades 6 of Clubs

Duy went on to win the pot on the 4 of Hearts 5 of Clubs 9 of Clubs 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts board to bring this field to one short of the final 2 tables.

    20th place: Arnold Yaxley – $1,675.00

    E3D2-7358

George Kazarian just lost back-to-back hands to send him out deep in The $250 Frenzy. On the first hand, he shipped over nearly 600,000 to Tony Farcy after calling off his all-in. George’s Ace of Diamonds King of Hearts were drawing dead to Tony’s Queen of Spades Jack of Spades once the flop brought the 6 of Spades 10 of Spades 3 of Spades (the turn 3 of Hearts and river 9 of Diamonds were just a formality at this point). On the next hand he pushed for just under 400,000 holding Ace of Clubs Queen of Hearts, and lost to the 7 of Spades 8 of Diamonds of Maxime Theroux, who called from the big blind.

    19th place: George Kazarian – $1,675.00

With these two eliminations, the field is now down to just 18 players on 2 final tables. There will be a break in 25 minutes, during which we will bring a complete update on the player stacks.

Here is the current player layout now that the event is down to 2 tables.

Blanc and Cantin eliminated; Jaskiewicz the new chip leader

    Thierry Blanc

E3D2-7346Thierry Blanc was gunning for his second final table of this Playground Poker Spring Classic, as he placed 9th in The Wild $150 only a few days ago. He came in today as a short stack, and patiently waited for a spot to get his chips in. He finally picked up a great shoving hand, however found himself in a dominated spot. He pushed for 3bb after Arnold Yxley moved in for 4bb from early position, and big stack Tomas Larivee Magni came along for the ride for a very fair price.

Thierry: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts

Arnold: Queen of Diamonds Queen of Clubs

Tomas: Ace of Clubs 8 of Clubs

Board: 5 of Spades 3 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts 3 of Diamonds

Arnold scooped the pot worth roughly 500,000, bringing him back into the tournament after Bob T took the majority of his chips a few hands earlier.

    22rd place: Thierry Blanc – $1,525.00

    Real Cantin

    Real Cantin

Real Cantin had a lot of work to do tonight if he wanted a shot at the champion’s trophy, as he came in to the day as the shortest stack. He managed to double up fairly early in the night, and then recently pulled the trigger for 400,000 from middle position. He was looked up only by Marco Lang in the big blind.

Real: 6 of Spades 6 of Hearts

Marco: Jack of Spades Jack of Clubs

There was a sweat to the river, however Real finished second-best on the 4 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 3 of Spades Queen of Spades 2 of Diamonds board to place 22nd in The $250 Frenzy.

    21st place: Real Cantin – $1,675.00

A huge hand just occurred between Tomas Larivee Magni and Jaroslaw Zbigniew Jaskiewicz, as an over 2.7 million chip pot was created in a raising war preflop. Jaroslaw and his King of Hearts King of Clubs finished ahead of the Ace of Spades Queen of Clubs of Tomas, making him our new chip leader.

    3 more players down

    Joey Boczek

E3D2-7396Simon Pin-Disle (small blind) and Justin Kuzmicki (big blind) found themselves heads-up on a 5 of Spades 6 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts board when the fireworks began. Before long, the two had wagered all the chips they had left and hands were tabled.

Simon: Queen of Hearts Queen of Clubs

Justin: King of Clubs 7 of Diamonds

The board ran an 8 of Diamonds and a 3 of Hearts, giving the win to Simon, who barely covered his opponent.

    25th place: Justin Kuzmicki – $1,425.00

    Alexander Matveev

    Alexander Matveev

Alexander Matveev called the late-position all-in of Ryan Hodge from the blinds, and found himself in a great spot to stack a player. He tabled Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds and was a big favourite against the Ace of Diamonds 3 of Spades of his opponent, however the 3 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts 4 of Clubs board changed all that, and he was left with less than 1 big blind after the hand. He was eliminated on the following hand.

    24th place: Alexander Matveev – $1,525.00

    Joey Boczek

    Joey Boczek

Joey Boczek button-raised to 125,000, and was 3bet to 350,000 by Maxime Theroux in the big blind. He replied with a 4bet shove for roughly double the 3bet, but found out very quickly Maxime was not 3betting light.

Joey: Ace of Diamonds 8 of Clubs

Maxime: King of Hearts King of Clubs

Board: Queen of Hearts 6 of Spades Jack of Spades 9 of Spades 2 of Clubs

Maxime basically doubled up on the hand, as he covered Joey by only a few chips.

    23rd place: Joey Boczek – $1,525

    First casualty

    Robert Gariepy

    Robert Gariepy

    Robert Gariepy

Robert Gariepy was our first player eliminated in this Day 3 of The $250 Frenzy, as he shoved his short stack in from early position on one of the first hands of the night. His Ace of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds fell short to the Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds of Rene Berube who called from the big blind.

Otherwise there have been several “all-in / call ” situations, however the short stacks have been on the winning side for the most part. Real Cantin doubled through Marco Lang; Richard Myron won his all-in versus Rene Berube; and Joey Boczek found a double from Simon Pin-Disle.

The biggest pot so far tonight happened when Jean-Manuel Estrala doubled his 1.3 million through Duy Toan Pham – who recovered not long after by cracking Azim Lavji’s Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts with Ace of Clubs 3 of Clubs on a board with 3 clubs, winning a pot north of 2 million.

    26th place: Robert Gariepy – $1,425.00

We have reached Day 3 in Event 3 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic, and 26 players are back tonight all trying to become our next The $250 Frenzy Champion. The winner is set to take home a cool $50,000 cash prize, in addition to a Playground Poker Spring Classic Champion’s Trophy. Full payouts can be viewed here.

Coming in as chip leader is local hero Tomas Larivee Magni, who knows his way around these final stages of a multi-day tournament. He is hoping to improve on his runner-up finish in our previous edition of The $250 Frenzy back in November of 2015. Marco Lang started Day 2 as the tournament chip leader, and managed to hold onto his spot amongst the leaders for most of the day, finishing the night second in chips. George Kazarian and Thierry Blanc are back for their second Day 3 in this series, as both made a deep run in the kickoff event – The Wild $150. Here is the full list of chip counts for the start of Day 3.

The field includes several solid local and travelling players, and the path to victory will not be made easy for anyone.

Follow us tonight as we bring you up-to-date coverage and photos of the event via our Playground Poker Blog, and good luck to the players here in Day 3!

Event 3 Day 3 seating draw (with counts)

    2016/04/26 - 2:19 by

251 players started Day 2 of The $250 Frenzy and after almost 12 complete levels just 26 players remain in the tournament! Play was slated to conclude with 27 remaining, but there were 2 eliminations on separate tables at the end of the day, leaving one fewer player left to join the restart tomorrow night (Tuesday April 26th) at 7:00pm.

The chip leader is local player Tomas Larivee Magni, primarily a cash game player but with some solid tournament experience as well. Tomas came in 2nd place in this event during the most recent Playground Poker Fall Classic, so he’s clearly trying to improve on that finish this time.

Second on the leaderboard (almost 400K behind Tomas) is Marco Lang, who also began Day 2 in the chip lead. Marco also has a long history of strong tournament results in events spanning the globe – so as one of the leaders he has to be viewed as a threat to win the event.

In addition to the top two and some visiting players like Thierry Blanc who have already had success during the Spring Classic, there are several well-known local heroes still in the field, including George Kazarian (it’s his 2nd Day 3 of the festival as well) and Bob T, plus the almost-local Joey Boczek.
