Event 6 Champion: Darryl Beal

2016/04/27 - 5:49 by Playground Poker

Event 6 Champion: Darryl Beal

Our 6th champion in this Playground Poker Spring Classic has just been crowned! After nearly 9 hours of play, it was Darryl Beal who emerged as our 50/50 Bounty winner, collecting 13 bounty chips worth $100 each along the way.

Darryl built a monster stack as the tournament was approaching the bubble, and although he lost good portion of it to Eric Nuss shortly before the final table, he remained patient and never gave up hope. He grinded a short stack in the late levels of the final table before finally finding himself heads-up versus Michele Black, who was on her quest for a second trophy here at Playground. Although Michele had the chip advantage, the two players agreed to share the prize pool evenly, leaving behind the require 5% extra for the eventual winner. The winner was now set to take home just over $5K, and the runner-up a touch over $4.6K.

Darryl doubled-up in one of the first hands of heads-up play to even the match, and the two went back and forth for a few orbits until a huge hand occurred. Michele played a flush draw very aggressively on the turn, and with all the chips in play, she missed the river and lost to the top two-pairs of Darryl, who took most of her chips in the hand. With only 1 big blind behind, she wasn’t ready to give up just yet – and was determined to become the 3rd female champion of 6 events in this series so far. She went on to double up 4 times, and rebuilt a stack worth 25% of the chips in play. On her fifth all-in, she tabled Ace of Spades 2 of Clubs, and was up against Darryl’s King of Hearts 6 of Hearts. They both connected on the 6 of Clubs Ace of Hearts 3 of Hearts flop, however Darryl got the best of it when the running cards brought a 5 of Clubs and a King of Diamonds to give him two-pairs.

With that hand, Michele was knocked out in 2nd place, and Darryl was crowned our Event 6 champion, taking home the biggest share of the prize pool, as well as a Playground Poker Spring Classic Champion’s Trophy.

Congratulations!

Event: Spring Classic

Event 6 final results

2016/04/27 - 5:48 by Playground Poker

Event 6 in the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net was a $100 + $20 + $100 NL Hold’em 50/50 Bounty tournament that attracted a massive field of 274 players, adding up to a prize pool of $26,578.00 – irrespective of bounty chips which are not tracked. This prize pool was distributed according to the following table.

Note that a player deal was reached with 2 players remaining. They chose to reserve $428.00 and the Champion’s Trophy for the winner of their heads up battle and divide the remaining prize pool evenly. The final results reflect this player deal. Also note once again that this results table reflects the distribution of the “traditional” prize pool. Players may have also won one or more bounty chips which are not tracked in any way – players cash out their own bounty chips with the cashier following the end of their tournament.

    Rene Berube Sarginson

Rene Berube started the final table with almost no chips, and built himself up to chip leader fairly quickly. He opened his game up after accumulating a big stack and raised most hands, but somehow Michele kept coming over the top of him and stealing his steals.

In the most recent hand, Michele opened to 500,000 from under the gun, and Rene 3bet his 1.5 million chip stack. Michele made a quick call, and Rene found himself at risk and behind yet again.

Michele: King of Clubs 10 of Spades

Rene: Queen of Spades 10 of Diamonds

Michele’s hand held this time around, as the board ran 10 of Hearts 5 of Clubs 6 of Hearts 6 of Spades 2 of Clubs, and she added another bounty to her pile.

    Nabil Assaff

With no action before him, Nabil Assaff moved in from the button for just under 10bb, and was looked up by Michele Black in the big blind.

Nabil: Ace of Hearts 8 of Hearts

Michele: Ace of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds

Michele asked for a 4, and surely enough one appeared on the turn of a 9 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts 4 of Hearts 5 of Clubs board to give her the knockout, and bring us down to our final 4 players.

Rene Berube is running hot – after doubling up three times already on this final table, he just went on to eliminate Alan Yi Fan Dong in 6th place to climb up near 1.5 million chips.

Rene limped 80,000 from under the gun, and quickly called when Alan moved all-in for 550,000 from the small blind.

Rene Berube is using up all his run-good on this final table, as he just got it in twice in three hands versus Michele Black to run his stack up to nearly 1 million.

In the first hand he shoved for 150,000 with Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds, and was isolated by Michele and her King of Spades King of Clubs. Rene made a straight on the 10 of Hearts Jack of Diamonds 5 of Spades 9 of Diamonds King of Hearts board to build up to over 400,000. Two hands later he shoved once again, and once again was isolated by Michele. He tabled Ace of Spades 7 of Clubs, and ran another straight on the 4 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs 5 of Spades 6 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds board to beat Michele’s Ace of Diamonds Queen of Clubs.

In a similar fashion to last elimination only moments ago, Eric Nuss opened the action to 200,000, and called off an extra 150,000 when Alexandre Nadeau-Levesque moved in over the top.

Eric: 8 of Clubs 8 of Spades

Alexandre: Ace of Hearts King of Clubs

Board: Queen of Hearts 10 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 7 of Clubs 5 of Hearts

With that pot, Eric has separated himself on the field and now closes on the 2-million chip mark.

Kethees: 6 of Hearts 6 of Spades
