Cards are in the air for Day 1a

Mike Sexton has delivered the traditional command to the dealers: “Shuffle Up and Deal!” and with that, cards are in the air for the 2016 WPT Canadian Spring Championship Day 1a. There are 41 players seated at the moment to play the day from the very beginning, but as usual late registrants will fill out the field considerably between now and 5:45pm, when registration closes for today.

Welcome to the WPT Canadian Spring Championship!

It’s another beautiful spring day in Montreal – everything is perfect for the beginning of the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship! Today is Day 1a – the first of 3 starting days in this year’s World Poker Tour event, and this will be followed by Day 1b on Saturday April 30th and Day 1c on Sunday May 1st.

This is the 4th WPT Canadian Spring Championship, but for the second year in a row, this is also the kickoff event of World Poker Tour Season XV. Season XIV wrapped up over the past two weeks in Florida, and starting today players will begin accumulating points for a new season’s WPT Player of the Year – and accumulating victories to qualify them for the WPT Tournament of Champions!

Play will get underway at 11am for all 3 Day 1s in this event, and play will continue through 10 60-minute levels. There will be 15-minute breaks following every 2nd level, plus a 45-minute long dinner break following level 6. The end of the dinner break is also the end of the late registration period.

Good luck to everyone – action will be underway shortly.
