Tony Dunst has made a very timely double up to vault him to over 1.3M in chips.

Zheng Wei opened the action to 55K from the cutoff and Jason Lavallée called from the button. Action move to Tony in the big blind and he chose to shove his 628K stack. Zheng folded and Jason thought, then cut out calling chips, then thought some more… and made the call.

Tony: Ace of Spades King of Spades
Jason: Ace of Clubs Jack of Hearts

The board ran out 9 of Hearts King of Diamonds 3 of Spades King of Clubs 6 of Diamonds and the dealer shipped the chips over to Tony.

Josue Sauvageau did a good job of chipping up early but found his chips in the middle holding a made flush on the river – only to find that Seth Davies (who had shoved over top of Josue’s open on the river) had the same flush but to the nuts.

Josue: 9 of Spades 2 of Spades
Seth: King of Spades 3 of Spades

Ace of Spades King of Clubs 4 of Spades Queen of Hearts Jack of Spades

    14th place: Josue Sauvageau, $15,300.00

Table 40 has seen the bulk of the action today, and with the elimination of both Brian and Ronald, the top 3 players by chip count are all on the same table. Currently both Ruben Perceval and Seth Davies are playing approximately 1.7M in chips while Scott McMorran is just a little behind them with 1.45M in chips.

Jason Lavallée remains the big stack on table 39, playing just over 1.1M at the moment.

Altman out 16th; Laplante out 15th

    Brian Altman

Brian Altman has been the first player eliminated on Day 4 of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship.

The chips were all-in preflop and we learned that Brian was playing the Ace of Spades King of Spades while Scott McMorran (to his immediate right) held Jack of Spades Jack of Hearts.

Brian hit a king on the flop of 4 of Clubs King of Clubs 10 of Spades to take the lead, but his advantage was erased on the Jack of Clubs turn, and the 7 of Clubs was no help on the river.

Scott has vaulted to among the chip leaders if not the outright chip lead.

Just a couple of hands later, Ronald Laplante was eliminated by Ruben Perceval. Ronald had doubled Josue earlier but had managed to regain most of those chips but was still one of the relative short stacks in the tournament when his elimination came.

    16th place: Brian Altman, $13,130

    Sauvageau climbs to 400K

Talented Quebec player Josue Sauvageau started the day as the small stack but has managed to build his holdings back up to the 20bb mark through a series of uncalled shoves and a double through Ronald Laplante. To hit his double he raised all-in from utg and finally got the call from Ronald in the bb.

Josue: Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades
Ronald: King of Hearts 9 of Hearts

The board ran out safely for Josue: 5 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts Ace of Clubs 2 of Spades 4 of Clubs and he has a little breathing room.

Ruben Perceval has been very active in the first few hands today and he just took a decent pot from Seth Davies. Seth opened the action from the hijack with a raise to 45K and Ruben called from the sb. The big blind got out of the way and the flop was dealt: 8 of Hearts 7 of Hearts King of Spades.

Ruben check-called Seth’s bet of 65K and the turn was produced: 8 of Spades. Ruben checked again, and this time Seth checked back. The dealer set out the river: 2 of Spades.

Now it was Ruben’s turn to lead: he bet 140K. Seth considered his options for some time before making the call – and then mucked immediately after seeing Ruben’s 7 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds for a turned full house.
