WPT Canadian Spring Championship Day 2 seating draw (with counts)

Day 2 in the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship is slated to begin at 12:00pm on May 2nd. The following table will be the official seating chart when play resumes. For convenience, chip counts for each player have also been provided.

There will be 180 players in action for the restart. There were 417 total entries in the tournament and 181 entries ended a Day 1 with chips, but one player qualified through 2 starting days. Therefore, according to the rules of the tournament, this player’s smaller stack will be removed from play. The player who qualified twice was Khaly Dang, and her smaller stack has 20,200 chips.

The chip average upon restart will be 69,300 tournament chips. Play will continue 9-handed.

WPT Canadian Spring Championship Day 1c final counts

Day 1c of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship got underway today at 11am and play continued through 10 60-minute levels before the remaining players were asked to count and bag their chips to return to play on Day 2.

There were 191 entries in today’s final starting flight in the tournament, and by the end of the night, 85 remained. These players have all qualified for Day 2.

Note that these are player-recorded chip count totals. The actual chips have been sealed in bags which will be opened by the players to be returned to play on Day 2, which begins at 12:00pm on Monday May 2nd. The official seating draw for Day 2 will be published soon.

The last of 3 starting flights to the WPT Canadian Spring Championship is now over, and with that we are now ready for Day 2, set for tomorrow, Monday May 2nd at 12pm.

Of the 417 entries culminated from all three flights, 181 players will return tomorrow to pursue their ultimate goal: to become the next WPT Canadian Spring Champion! Leading the field is Jiachen “Jack” Gong, who stormed up the leaderboard in the last moments of play in Day 1c to finish with 182,400 in chips. He was our TonyBet Winter Festival Main Event champion earlier this year, and is now on the hunt for his second title of the year. Second in chips is Ivan Fazal Karim, who bagged 165,500 today, and third is Jason Hedler (163,900) who finished in the chip lead on Day 1b.

A full list of player-reported chip counts will be made available very shortly, as well as the seating assignment for tomorrow’s Day 2 of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship.

WPT Canadian Spring Championship prize pool & payouts

The prize pool and payout structure for the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship has been released.

There were a total of 417 entries, which adds up to a total prize pool of $1,294,368.00. First prize in the tournament includes a seat in the World Poker Tour Tournament of Champions, a US$15,000 value. In Canadian dollars at current exchange rates, this is an C$18,750 value and this amount has been removed from the cash payout table, which therefore adds up to a total of C$1,275,618.00. This amount will be distributed according to the following official payout table.

Of course, because the partypoker.net WPT Canadian Spring Championship is hosted by Playground Poker Club, the winner will also win an amazing Champion’s Belt! In addition, as a World Poker Tour Main Tour Main Event, the winner will also have their name inscribed on the WPT Champion’s Trophy for all time!

The last break of Day 1c has just been completed, and the T25 chips have been removed from play. With only 2 levels left to the day, it is Ronald Laplante who has taken over the chip lead, sitting on over 140K.

The most recent player to join the field is Brian Altman, who is fresh from a victory in the Montreal WSOP-C Main Event – and by fresh, we mean a matter of minutes! He arranged to have his stack purchased at the dinner break, and was blinded out while he was wrapping up his victory. He arrived at the tables during the break before level 9 to find 22,500 chips waiting for him, and is now in action in this final flight of the WPT CSC.

First of all, thanks for the great shout-out! Second, it’s worth sharing the following information from our Event FAQ:

Does Playground Poker Club have any “house rules” that players should be aware of before playing in an event?

There is one procedure that players should be aware of that is slightly different than the procedure in many other tournaments. Playground Poker Club dealers are trained and empowered to administer a called clock. If a player calls for a clock on another player, the dealer will immediately assess whether the request is appropriate and, if so, will begin the 60-second countdown.
Players will be notified when 30 seconds have elapsed and, once 50 seconds have elapsed, the dealer will begin a verbal countdown of the final 10 seconds. At the end of the 60 seconds, the player’s hand is dead.
In our experience, this procedure removes some of the stigma of calling the clock in tournament play and contributes to the maintenance of a healthy pace of tournament play.

At Playground Poker Club we are aware that not everyone agrees that this is the best policy, but our experience with this approach – and the ongoing training and evaluation we give our dealers – has made it a great success. In fact, for local players this is the norm and is not even a little bit controversial.

Players should also keep in mind that floor staff are never far away, and when they see that a clock is being administered, they go to the table immediately to supervise.

We are midway through level 8, and the starting field of 191 of Day 1c has been reduced to 123 players. Play is now 9-handed and will remain so until the final table of 10 players.

Following this level will be a short chip-up break, during which we will bring an update on the leaderboard. Sheraz Nasir was eliminated in the last level, and as he was our 2015 WPT CSC champion, the door is now open for a new champion to be crowned! Other recent eliminations include Alexandre Lavigne, Stan Jablonski and Michael Dentale, while Marc-Andre Ladouceur and Mike Leah made their exits early in this flight.

Xuan Liu opened the action preflop, and found a parade of calls as play went six-handed to the flop. It checked around to the turn, where Xuan fired 3,800 and found calls from Nimer Ltaif and Ian Tang. Once the river brought the , action checked to Ian in position, who slid forward his 25,200 stack. The wheels started turning in Xuan’s head, and after a few minutes of silence she made the call, forcing Nimer out of the hand. “Nice call”, announced Ian who seemingly missed his draw, prompting Xuan to table her for the win.

Late registration has closed just minutes ago here in Day 1c of the WPT Canadian Spring Championship, and as this was the final qualifying flight, registration for this Main Event in the Playground Poker Spring Classic presented by partypoker.net is now over. A total of 417 entries took place over 3 starting flights, surpassing last years total of 370 entries. We will publish the official prize pool and payout distribution as soon as the tournament staff releases it.

Day 1c is back in action in level 7, and players have 4 more levels to complete before moving onto Day 2. Once this last flight has been completed, we will publish the full list of player-reported chip counts going into Day 2, as well as the seating assignments of the qualifying players.
