Event 4 in the Playground Poker Spring Classic is a 1-Day NL Hold’em DeepStack Turbo tournament which began on Monday April 25th at 12pm. There were a total of 136 players in the tournament which built up a prize pool totalling $13,192.00, where 14 players will be paid according to the following payout table.

Event 4 is finishing up a short chip-up break, where the staff is removing the T100 chips from play. A few stacks have considerably shot up in the past few levels, as the ever-increasing pressure of the blinds in this Deepstack Turbo is in full-effect. The players in the Deepstack Turbo are taking their first break of the day, and while they are on break, the last of the late registrants will be permitted to join the tourney. The final number for the tourney should be around the current 130 players, which will add up to a tidy prize pool for a Monday morning!
The structure of this tournament is a little different than other Spring Classic tourneys in that antes start a little later – they’ll start in level 6 when players return from break, and the initial ante will be 100 chips. This marks the first real “inflection point” in the tournament, as pots will get bigger, and faster, with antes at stake and not just the blinds. Experienced players in this format will take that into account and some significant accumulations should result.

We expected a lot of players to register late for this event – this is a very common practice in all Playground Poker Club tournaments – but not necessarily to this extent! With another 45 minutes of late registration left there are already 119 players seated at the tables – and more coming in every few minutes.
Play has just begun in level 1 of today’s Deepstack Turbo event with 60 players seated to get the action started and probably about that many due to show up during the late registration period. Late reg is permitted until the end of the first break, but due to the 15-minute blind levels in this event, there are 5 levels before the break – which means that you can register until 1:30pm.
Players have started with 25K in chips and as we mentioned in the into post, the action is certain to be super fast today with 15-minute blind levels for the entire tournament.
Today’s noon tourney – Event 4, a $100 + $10 NL Hold’em Deepstack Turbo – is both the most affordable tournament in this year’s Spring Classic lineup AND likely to be one of the most fun events on the schedule as well!
The Deepstack Turbo format is one of the most beloved tournament formats ever run here at Playground Poker Club. Ever since we first opened our doors in 2010, this format has been a mainstay of the weekly tournament schedule and it still represents the backbone of our daytime schedule as well as being the format of both weekend daytime tournaments.
About the name: it’s called “Deepstack” because players start with 25K in chips, and “Turbo” because blinds are just 15 minutes long. This makes for an explosive combination in which players find themselves in critical situations from the very beginning of the tournament. Players must keep their wits about them for the entire length of of the tourney to make it deep – no “coasting” allowed!

Today at noon is the $100 + $10 NL Hold’em Deepstack Turbo event – the most affordable tournament in the 2016 Spring Classic schedule. Plus there will be amazing cash game action all day – and all night – long!
After a seeming marathon of starting Day 1 flights – 6 in total – Event 3 is now ready to move on to its next phase, which begins with Day 2 on Monday April 25th at 7:00pm.
The event saw a total of 1,248 entries and of this number, 253 entries qualified for Day 2. However, two players managed to qualify for Day 2 via two separate Day 1s – so according to the rules, each of them has had their smaller stack retired from the tournament – meaning that there are 251 unique players who will be active when play resumes this evening. For the record, the two players who qualified twice were Ben Menache and Gael Forest.
The following table is the official seating chart for Day 2 of The $250 Frenzy, which is set to resume at 7:00pm on Monday April 25th. Play resumes in level 15, and when the tournament resumes, play will be 9-handed.
Note that these are player-recorded chip count totals. The actual chips have been sealed in bags which will be opened by the players to be returned to play on Day 2.
