Placide Junior Sanon just arrived at Playground Poker Club minutes ago, however his stack has been active since the start of Day 3 roughly 50 minutes ago, and unfortunately his short 430,000 stack was blinded out moments before his arrival.

    22nd place: Placide Junior Sanon – $825.00

    Eliminations in 24th and 23rd

    George Caragiorgas

    George Caragiorgas

    George Caragiorgas

George Caragiorgas started the day short and before too long shipped his remaining stack after action folded to him in the small blind. Martin Lapostolle in the bb made the call and the cards were turned over.

George: Queen of Clubs 8 of Clubs
Martin: 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs

The board run out of 5 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs Ace of Diamonds 3 of Hearts 7 of Spades brought no relief for George and he was eliminated in 24th place.

    24th place: George Caragiorgas, $825

    Sebastien Lapierre

    Sebastien Lapierre

A few minutes later, Evgeni Ozadovski open shoved for about 700K from early position and found an opponent in Sebastien Lapierre, who moved all-in under for about 400K.

Evgeni: Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts
Sebastien Ace of Hearts 9 of Hearts

Evgeni flopped a set, and by the end of the hand saw the end of Sebastien’s evening.

    23rd place: Sebastien Lapierre, $825

    Richard Lord

    Richard Lord

Richard Lord was the first casualty of the night, as he 3bet his short-stack from the small blind facing a late-position open from Maxime Theroux. Maxime committed the extra chips, and both players tabled their hands.

Maxime: 7 of Spades 7 of Hearts

Richard: King of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds

Richard has some outs on the flop, but Maxime’s hand prevailed on the 10 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs 7 of Clubs to send Richard home in 27th place.

    27th place: Richard Lord – $775.00

    Paul El-Khouri

    Paul El-Khouri

Paul El-Khouri was down to only 4 big blinds when an ace appeared is his hands in middle-position. With the pot still unopened, he opted to move-all in, and found a call from Martin Lapostolle in late position.

Paul: Ace of Hearts 9 of Diamonds

Martin: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts

With no help on the 2 of Clubs King of Spades 7 of Diamonds 10 of Spades 3 of Clubs board, Paul was eliminated in 26th place.

    26th place: Paul El-Khouri – $775.00

    Isham Yamani

    Isham Yamani

Isham Yamani moved all-in for his last 180,000, and found himself up against two opponents – Martin Lapostolle and Patrick Trinh. When the flop brought the Ace of Hearts 6 of Diamonds Jack of Spades, Martin fired a small bet, and Patrick got out of the way.

Martin tabled Jack of Diamonds Jack of Hearts for a set, and Isham and his :King of Spades King of Hearts needed some serious help. The running Ace of Spades and 9 of Spades were not what he was hoping for, as his Day 3 was cut short.

    25th place: Isham Yamani – $775.00

    Tons of early action

As you might predict at this stage in the tourney there has been a ton of early action as short-stacked players try and chip up and the leaders try and take the lead.

In a hand on table 39, Patrick Trinh and Alexandre Blanc tangled, blind on blind. We arrived at the table on a flop of Jack of Diamonds 2 of Spades 8 of Hearts and Patrick bet 40K, and Alexandre made the call. The Ace of Hearts on the turn brought check-check from the two players, and the Ace of Spades on the river induced another bet from Patrick – 75K. Alexandre threw in a chip to make the call but instantly mucked upon seeing Patrick’s Ace of Clubs 9 of Hearts and Patrick raked a modest pot.

Just seconds later on table 36 found Billy Kurniawan all-in for his last ~370K and called by Michael Malm.

Billy: Ace of Diamonds 4 of Spades
Michael: King of Hearts Jack of Clubs

The board brought good things for both players: King of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds but hope faded a little on the 7 of Clubs turn. It wasn’t a diamond but the Ace of Spades that saved Billy on the river, and he doubled up to stay alive.

Welcome to Day 3 of The Wild $150

  • Level: 26
  • Small Blind: 20K

The conclusion of The Wild $150 takes place tonight, as 27 players return to battle it out on the felts for the sweet $28,000 top prize, which is accompanied by a Playground Poker Spring Classic Champion’s Trophy.

Two players return sharing the chip lead, as both David St-Louis and William Barcomb bagged an impressive 2,015,000 last night. Kevin Daily also had a powerful Day 2, and being on the wining end of a set-over-set situation near the end of last night propelled him into 3rd place, as he starts the night tonight with 1,950,000.

WSOP-Bracelet winner Michael Malm, who also has 4 final tables here in past series events (including a victory in the $500 + $50 Deepstack Event in the 2014 Playground Poker Spring Classic), is amongst the final 27, as he brings back an above-average stack to the tables, as well as a ton of tournament poker experience.

Isham Yamani is back for his 5th Day 3 in a multi-day $135 + $15 event such as this one, and we can expect him to be a potential threat to his opponents, even if he is on the shorter end of the leaderboard.

“Marathon” George Caragiorgas is one of the shorter stacks coming into Day 3, however we can expect his years of experience to help him navigate his short stack through this dangerous field.

The final 27 includes many experienced players, with both local and international results, and we can therefore expect tonight to be quite the match-up! With $28,000 on the line, everyone will surely be bringing their A-game to the tables tonight…

    Good luck!

    Event: Spring Classic

    Welcome to Event 2!

    2016/04/21 - 19:02 by

    Welcome to Event 2!

As The Wild $150 draws to a close, the curtain lifts on the rest of the Playground Poker Spring Classic schedule – and the next event out of the blocks is Event 2, a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em Freeze that gets underway at 7:30pm tonight!

As a freezeout tournament, this kind of event is tournament poker in it’s classical form – one buy-in per player, no rebuys, no re-entry. Players each start with a 20K stack and the only way to accumulate more chips is to win them from opponents in the tourney.

Late registration in the event is open until the end of the break following level 4, which is to say that you can join the fun all the way until 9:00pm tonight. Based on past history, players will be joining the event right until the end of late reg, so even if participation numbers are modest in level 1, it’s almost certain that the final count of participants has contributed to a very healthy prize pool.

    Good luck to everyone tonight!
