    St-Louis jumps into the lead

A few players have considerably chipped up in the last few levels, most notably David St-Louis, who holds the current chip lead with a stack upward of 1,400,000. The stacks are fluctuating quickly atop the leaderboard however, and quite a few players are inches behind as the race for Day 3 is nearing its end.

Mustafa Erzincanli and his 1,300,000 chips are rivalling David’s chip lead, while Jeff Rosenblatt, Tina, Thierry Blanc, Kevin Daily and Sebastien Lapierre all sit comfortably north of the 1 million chip mark.

Only 39 players remain in The Wild $150, and this Day 2 will soon come to an end as we are but 12 eliminations away from Day 3.

Kevin Daily crosses the million-chip mark

E1D2-6525Kevin Daily is the current chip leader with 57 players left in Day 2 of The Wild $150, and he is the only player currently in the 7-figures, as he holds a stack worth 1,030,000.

Play is just about to enter level 23, and we are still 30 eliminations away from the completion of this second day of Event 1. Once the final 27 players have been reached, they will bag their chips and resume the tournament tomorrow, Thursday at 7pm.

    Stacks are building

Players are being eliminated at a rapid pace here deep in Day 2 of The Wild $150, as the 234 players field has been reduced to just 73. Play will continue until the final 27 has been reached, and for now the man in charge is Thierry Blanc, who just scooped a big pot bringing him over the 820,000 chip mark. Kevin Daily has been chipping up recently as well, as he has climbed to the 775,000 chip mark. Jean-Sebastien Dore is maintaining his spot amongst the leaders, and sits in a healthy third place with roughly 750,000 to his name, while Robert Ouellet has increased his holdings up to 675,000 – good for fourth place.

There will be a short break in about 35 minutes, during which we will bring a more detailed update on the leaderboard.

Once the field dropped to 119 players, two simultaneous eliminations occurred on different tables, which made hand-for-hand play unnecessary as the players in The Wild $150 were already in the money.

Congratulations to all the players in the money, and good luck in the rest of the tournament!

The field has just dropped to 120 players, which means the bubble is almost here. Three more elimination are needed before The Wild $150 is in the money, and play will enter hand-for-hand at 118 players.

The players were just on a short chip-up break, where the staff removed the no-longer-needed T500 chips, and we took this time to bring an update on the leaderboard.

With only 129 players left in play, the bubble is just around the corner. Leading the way into this crucial stage of the tournament is local hero Jean-Sebastien Dore, who sits on healthy 585,000 chips. On his tail is Robert Ouellet, who is the only other player about the 1/2 million mark, and he currently holds a stack of 526,000. Below is a table with the top stacks entering level 19.

As we alluded to earlier, the beginning of a Day 2 in an event such as this one is quite volatile, with early eliminations coming at a very rapid pace. Several players have taken advantage of this volatility and have managed to chip up significantly in the early going.

    • Michael Malm started the night with under 150K but now is playing over 320K
    • Maxime Theroux has built up his stack to over 350K after starting with just 195K
    • Tanvir Ahmed started with 167K and is now playing well over 300K
    • Mathieu Boulanger-Vaugeois began with a healthy 285K but has grown that to over 350K

The next break is in just under an hour during which we’ll put together a full leaderboard – though by then, there are certain to be several players with over 500K in play.

Day 2 of The Wild $150 has passed through its first full level of the night and, as expected, the action has been very quick as short stacked players have tried to double up early to continue with more competitive chip counts. The day started with 234 players, and after 35 minutes, just 203 remained at the tables.

The money bubble will be pierced when the player in 118th place is eliminated, so the players are still a long way off from bubble play… but with the pace of the tournament so far, it’s clear that the more experienced players are making a concerted effort to chip up even now.
