Ari Engel just added another stack of white 5K chips to his collection, as he opened his button and called off the 3bet all-in of Chris Arvanitis worth almost 120,000. Ari tabled 9 of Hearts 9 of Spades and found the win versus the 10 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds of Chris, bringing his total count up over 570,000 – good for the stranglehold chip lead in this Second Chance Event.

We also lost Marko a few hands before that, as his Ace of Spades King of Diamonds couldn’t survive the Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades of Kathy.

There was a redraw with 18 players left in the field, and here are the new seating assignments:

    Sauvageau climbs to 400K

Talented Quebec player Josue Sauvageau started the day as the small stack but has managed to build his holdings back up to the 20bb mark through a series of uncalled shoves and a double through Ronald Laplante. To hit his double he raised all-in from utg and finally got the call from Ronald in the bb.

Josue: Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades
Ronald: King of Hearts 9 of Hearts

The board ran out safely for Josue: 5 of Diamonds 5 of Hearts Ace of Clubs 2 of Spades 4 of Clubs and he has a little breathing room.

Morgan flops big, but not big enough

Brian Morgan thought he found a dream flop for his King of Clubs Queen of Clubs, but once his all-in was called by two opponents on the flop, he realized he was actually third-best in the hand.

With the board showing Queen of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 9 of Clubs, Brian’s top-pair and flush draw needed to hit to win versus the top-two of Jordan with Queen of Hearts 9 of Spades, and the top-top of Kathy with Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds. The turn (2 of Spades) and river (7 of Diamonds) were bricks, and Brian saw his chips get divided by his opponents, as Jordan was the shortest stack in the hand.

Three other quick eliminations occurred to start the day, as we lost Senturan Vijayaratnam, Patrick M and Jason Clarke to bring the field down to 20 players.

Ruben Perceval has been very active in the first few hands today and he just took a decent pot from Seth Davies. Seth opened the action from the hijack with a raise to 45K and Ruben called from the sb. The big blind got out of the way and the flop was dealt: 8 of Hearts 7 of Hearts King of Spades.

Ruben check-called Seth’s bet of 65K and the turn was produced: 8 of Spades. Ruben checked again, and this time Seth checked back. The dealer set out the river: 2 of Spades.

Now it was Ruben’s turn to lead: he bet 140K. Seth considered his options for some time before making the call – and then mucked immediately after seeing Ruben’s 7 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds for a turned full house.

    Event 15 Champion: David Guay

    2016/05/04 - 4:26 by

    Event 15 Champion: David Guay

There were 109 players in Event 15 and the beginning of the tourney everything proceeded at a normal pace – but as the event got deeper, the quicker things started to move. At one point 3 tables broke in the space of just 30 minutes as the bubble approached.

Once the final table arrived, there were several all in hands with no call and the small stacks doubled or at least increased their holdings for the most part. Then when the tournament got to heads up, both players were evenly matched in terms of chips. Again this time there was a passage of play with no movement… until David Guay shoved for 870K and found a call from Michael Stannard.

David: 5 of Diamonds 5 of Spades

Michael: King of Clubs 3 of Clubs

Board: Queen of Diamonds King of Hearts 7 of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds 6 of Diamonds

Michael hit his King, but the turn and river runner-runner gave the pot to David and Michael had just 440K left. the very next hand he called off David’s all in with King of Clubs 7 of Diamonds.

David: 6 of Clubs 7 of Clubs

Once again the flop was almost perfect for Michael: Ace of Hearts 9 of Hearts King of Spades

But the runner runner turn 8 of Hearts and river 5 of Clubs gave David the pot – and the Championship!

    Event 15 Champion: David Guay – $7,219
