And just like that, in less than 10 minutes there have been 3 eliminations from the unofficial final table and the WPT is now just one elimination away from stopping for the day with 6 players remaining.

First to go was Khaly Dang, who found herself all-in holding Ace of Clubs Queen of Diamonds facing the 10 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds of Ruben Perceval. The run-out of 2 of Hearts 5 of Hearts King of Diamonds Jack of Spades 6 of Clubs missed her completely and Ruben’s pocket Tens hold.

    10th place: Khaly Dang, $18,750.00

Next to be eliminated was Rene Fortin – who had been nursing a small stack all day and quite successfully laddering up pay jumps. Laddering up, that is, until he decided to shove with a small pair 5 of Spades 5 of Diamonds. He was called by Thomas Taylor holding Jack of Spades Jack of Clubs and the 6 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs King of Clubs 4 of Spades community cards didn’t change a thing.

    9th place: Rene Fortin, $25,630.00

Last to go was the most unlucky of the bunch. Wei Zheng was short-stacked since Tony Dunst cracked his pocket Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades with 9 of Clubs 9 of Spades by spiking a 9 of Hearts on the river and stacking almost 800K of Wei’s erstwhile stack. Ever patient, however, he waited for his spots – doubled up once – and finally pushed with 9 of Hearts 9 of Spades and found a call from Seth Davies holding 6 of Diamonds 6 of Hearts.

The flop was safe enough: King of Clubs Ace of Diamonds 2 of Hearts as was the Queen of Spades on the turn. The 6 of Spades on the river brought out a gasp from the table as Wei had gotten super unlucky twice in a half hour and was eliminated from the tournament.

    8th place: Zheng Wei, $34,180.00

    Khaly Dang
    Rene Fortin
