Preflop, Steven Martin raised to 2,000. Shaun Bowring upped the stakes, going all in. Jean-Pierre Poirier called, and when the betting returned to Steven, he folded up his cards. Shaun revealed the pair he was holding 4 of Clubs 4 of Spades, and Jean-Pierre laid down his Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades. After Shaun looked at Jean-Pierre’s hand, he stood up immediately.

The flop came down Ace of Diamonds 5 of Clubs 3 of Clubs. It wasn’t looking good for Shaun, especially after the turn was dealt Queen of Diamonds. But when the 4 of Diamonds was revealed on the river, Shaun expressed relief. As he returned to his seat Shaun was congratulated by Steven. His three 4s helped him live to see another hand.

When Evgenii Tsatskin found himself holding pocket Aces, he found a way to put all his chips in the middle preflop. His opponent in this hand, Said El-Yousfi, also had a pocket pair, 10’s.

Unfortunately for Evgenii, and as been happening all evening, a set ended someone’s evening. Said caught a 10 on the flop and didn’t look back, landing Evgenii in 13th place and awarding him $14,500. Congratulations go out to Evgenii for an excellent tournament. The poker continues, and we are almost at the final table, with only 12 players left.

Marc-Andre Ladouceur (button) opened to 28,000, and called the 3-bet to 91,000 from Ajay Chabra (small blind).

Ajay lead out for 56,000 on the 10 of Hearts 5 of Spades King of Clubs flop, and Marc-Andre Ladouceur made the call.

When the 6 of Spades was peeled on the turn, Ajay moved all-in, covering his opponent. Marc-Andre made the quick call, and cards were shown.

Ajay was holding Ace of Spades 2 of Spades for a flush draw, while Marc-Andre had King of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds for top two pairs. The river 10 of Clubs improved Marc-Andre’s hand to a full-house, and he slid forward 245,000 for the double-up. He now sits with around 800,000 chips, while Ajay dropped to 200,000.

Said El-Yousfi has had a big week. After final-tabling the WPT500 (and finishing 2nd) a few days ago, he finds himself in the hunt for another final table here at the WPTDeepStacks event. And the possibility of making the final table just was just made slightly more likely by his recent double-up.

Although we missed most of the hand, when we arrived at the table the board showed Jack of Hearts Jack of Spades 5 of Clubs Queen of Clubs 3 of Diamonds. Said whooped with excitement as he flipped over his 3 of Clubs 3 of Spades, doubling up his stack against his opponent’s Ace of Spades Jack of Diamonds.

While he is by no means even close to the chip lead at this point, he has some room to breathe, and to pick his spots from here on out.
