    2018/10/31 | 22:24 by Playground Poker

After three exciting Live Day 1s in the WPT Montreal Main Event, the final Day 1 flight has officially come to a close with 219 players making it to the end of the day. The chip leader to close Day 1C was Alex Foxen, who managed to bag 213,800 chips despite only starting after 5:00pm today. He is followed by Homan Mohammadi (197,500), Quentin Siffledeen (185,400), and Senthuran Vijayaratnam (184,100).

Through the full 8 levels of Day 1C, there were 369 entries (including 57 re-entries). These 369 entries are in addition to the 266 entries in earlier flights, adding up to a grand total of 635 entries across all 4 Day 1s in the event.

Today’s qualifiers have all bagged their chips to return to play on Day 2, which begins tomorrow, November 1st at 12:00pm. Remember, though, if you didn’t have the chance to play any of the Day 1 flights yet, there is still a chance to get in! Players can continue to enter on Day 2 right up until the end of the break following level 2 – in other words, until 2:15pm tomorrow.

Congrats to all the players who made it this far. We’ll see you on Day 2!

As we near the end of today’s flight some players are tightening up, and some are forced to play a little more loosely. Others have no choice but to shove all in so they can begin Day 2 with more than a few big blinds. This was the case for Rishi Makkar, who found himself heads up all in against Kien Hoa Lam on table 60.

Kien: Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds

Rishi: 7 of Hearts 7 of Spades

The board came up 4 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts 9 of Spades 7 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts, and Rishi’s set defeated Kien’s pair of Aces.

Kien doubled Rishi up, but unfortunately the total didn’t even equal the day’s starting stack. That said, it’s better than nothing, and I’m sure Kien wishes Rishi luck on tomorrow’s Day 2 – if Rishi can last until the end of the night!

The last hand played at table 58 before the players were dispersed to other tables was a solid one for Medhat Ramzy. After George Lagos limped in with a bet of 300, Curt Kohlberg raised to 1,500.  Lonnie Hallett, Medhat and George all called.

The dealer laid down the flop 3 of Clubs Jack of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds. Medhat immediately bet 7,500. Both Curt and Lonnie folded, and George, reduced to a small stack, was forced to go all in to cover the bet. Both players laid down their cards. Medhat was holding 10 of Clubs Jack of Spades, and George’s cards were King of Spades Jack of Hearts.

The turn was dealt 10 of Spades. George stood up when the river revealed 8 of Hearts. Medhat won the hand with two pair.

It’s looking like there may be some tremendous added value in the $5,000,000 guaranteed WPT Montreal Main Event. As play begins in the final level of the final Day 1, there are only 627 entries. This tournament does allow new entries on Day 2, which will get underway on Thursday November 1 at 12:00pm. Players can enter or re-enter until the beginning of level 11 – in other words, until 2:15pm tomorrow.

Blinds will start on Day 2 at 400/800 with an 800 chip big blind ante – and with a starting stack of 40,000 chips, that means new Day 2 entries will start with 50bb.

    See you tomorrow!

At table 17, where our Main Event Day 1C chip leader, Nghi Van Tran, is sitting, Macradij Yacoubian was pushed to the limit. Andrew Macdonald, another big stack in the Main Event, raised to 1,300, preflop. After everyone else at the table threw in their cards, Macradij, the big blind, called.

The flop was dealt 10 of Hearts 4 of Spades 6 of Clubs. Macradij bet 3,000 and Andrew called. The turn was revealed Jack of Spades, and both players checked.  When the river was flipped Queen of Spades, Andrew looked over at Macradij’s stack and bet 15,000. The bet gave Macradij reason to pause. He had to go all in to cover. After debating, Macradij finally pushed his chips towards the pot, and stood up.

Andrew turned 6 of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds and Macradij won the pot with two pair. He was holding 10 of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds.
