As the dust settled in Day 3 of the Main Event, only 13 players remained in contention of becoming the next WPT champion, including two former champions: Ema Zajmovic and Amir Babakhani. They will return to action tomorrow at 12pm and play down to the official 6-handed final table.

Patrick Serda surged at the end of the day and ended up bagging the chip lead with nearly 5 million chips, while Santiago Plante (3,890,000) and Upeshka De Silva (3,720,000) are in a tight race for the second biggest stack. Full counts are found below.

    See you tomorrow!

3-way on a 8 of Spades 10 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts flop, Santiago Plante (big blind) and Brent Roberts (under the gun) checked the action over to Pierre-Paul Paulin (button), who fired 110,000. Santiago made the call, and Brent raised all-in over the top for 765,000. As soon as Pierre-Paul mucked his hand, Santiago threw in a calling chip and tabled Queen of Diamonds Jack of Clubs for the nut straight. Brent flipped over Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts and had some chances of surviving, especially after turning a flush draw on the 8 of Hearts turn. The 7 of Spades river was not helpful though, and he was eliminated in 15th place for $44,000.

Moments later Kliment Tarmako was eliminated from play in 14th place, cashing $54,000. We missed his final hand, however when we arrived at the tables we saw it was David Guay who had collecting his last chips.

Nektarios Papadedes saw his stack take a few hits over the last few orbits leading to his final hand. In an unopened pot, he threw in his last 300,000 from the button and found a call from Kauvsegan Eham in the big blind.

Nektarios: 10 of Spades 7 of Clubs
Kauvsegan: Ace of Hearts 10 of Hearts

Board: King of Clubs Ace of Spades 2 of Diamonds Queen of Spades 8 of Diamonds

Nektarios couldn’t improve his hand and was eliminated in 16th place, collecting $44,000 for his final 2 tables finish.

With 460,000 in front of him, Jean-Serge Baril open-shoved from late position, finding isolation from Michael O’Sullivan in the small blind.

Jean-Serge: Ace of Clubs Queen of Clubs
Michael: Queen of Hearts Queen of Spades

Jean-Serge needed an Ace or some clubs on the board to remain in this Main Event, however the 7 of Diamonds 6 of Hearts 9 of Hearts 2 of Clubs 4 of Clubs board ran in the favour of Michael. With Jean-Serge’s elimination, the field is now down to the final 2 tables, and a redraw is underway.
