Adam Cader opened to 35,000 from early position, and play folded around to Andrew Macdonald in the big blind. Andrew put his opponent to the test by 3-betting all-in, and Adam made the call after a quick moment in the tank.

Andrew: Ace of Hearts King of Spades
Adam: Jack of Hearts Jack of Spades

Adam had to sweat it until the river, as Andrew flopped a flush draw in addition to his two over cards, however pocket-Jacks prevailed on the 5 of Hearts Queen of Hearts 4 of Hearts 6 of Spades 3 of Diamonds board to place Adam up above the average stack. He now holds 835,000 chips, while Andrew slips to below 600,000.

With virtually even stacks, Nghi Van Tran and David Guay found themselves all-in against one another on the turn of a 7 of Spades 6 of Clubs King of Hearts 10 of Clubs board.

David was the big favourite, holding a set with 7 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds, and only had 4 straight outs to dodge, as Nghi Van tabled 10 of Diamonds 9 of Spades. The 3 of Clubs sealed the deal for David, who slid forward 320,000 to be doubled. He now holds 780,000 in chips, while Nghi Van’s remaining 25,000 chips vanished on the next hand.

Upeshka De Silva opened to 25,000 from early position, and then called Kyle Chang’s all-in raise worth just over 220,000.

Upeshka: Ace of Clubs Queen of Hearts
Kyle: King of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds

Board: 6 of Diamonds Ace of Spades 3 of Spades Queen of Spades 7 of Clubs

Kyle was awarded $14,100 for his finish.

Moments later Amir Babakhani open-shoved his 232,000 stack from late position, and Sorel Mizzi put him at risk from the big blind.

Amir: Jack of Spades Jack of Diamonds
Sorel: Ace of Clubs Jack of Clubs

With no danger on the 9 of Diamonds 7 of Spades 3 of Spades 6 of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds board, Amir found a key double-up to keep him in the running for a second WPT title. Although Sorel took a hit on the hand, he remains healthy with roughly average stack.

The Main Event field is now down to 8 final table. Recent eliminations include David Peters, Justin Liberto, Kevin Rivest and Mukul Pahuja.

We are down to just 9 final tables in the WPT Montreal Main Event after completing 3 levels of play in Day 3.

Ema Zajmovic has excelled in the last level, springing up her once short stack up above the current average as she hunts for her 4th WPT final table and 2nd title. She began the day with a mere 74,000 in chips, but has managed to navigate her way through the money bubble, increasing her stack by nearly tenfold.
