Andrew Macdonald has had an excellent start to his Day 3. He came in with 384,000 in chips, and has managed to increase his stack to nearly 1,300,000 in just one level of play.

In the most recent hand, he placed a small raise from under the gun, and was followed by Alexander Dejuante on the button before David Baba 3-bet all-in from the big blind for around 150,000. Andrew made the call, and then quickly called when Alexander moved in over the top for around 300,000 total, putting both players at risk.

Andrew: King of Clubs King of Spades
David: Ace of Hearts King of Hearts
Alexander: Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds

Board: 6 of Clubs 10 of Clubs 8 of Spades Queen of Hearts 5 of Diamonds

Jason Mandanici-Turcot was just eliminated from the Main Event in an inevitable cooler. He clashed with Harpreet Padda on the turn of a 7 of Spades 3 of Hearts 4 of Spades 8 of Clubs board, where the majority of the 600,000 pot was formed, only for find out that his flopped top set was second best to Harpreet’s turned set.

Once the all-in occurred, Jason tabled 7 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds and was down to just one out to keep his seat in the Main Event, as Harpreet was holding 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds. As the river Jack of Hearts was a blank, Jason was sent to the rail 10 spots shy of the payouts.

The Action clock is now being introduced into play.

Leah takes (more) from Tran; the Action Clock is here

Mike Leah continues to accumulate at the expense of Nghi Van “Henry” Tran. We arrived at the table on the turn on a board reading: 5 of Clubs King of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs to find that Mike had check-raised all in to a bet of 75K by Tran, who was on the button. Tran thought long and hard about the decision and was obviously unsure of what to do. Eventually time was called and before the clock ran out, Tran folded. He now has just 270K in his stack.

Meanwhile, 2 more players have been eliminated taking the field to 112 players remaining – time for the WPT Action Clock! Every player will have 30 seconds to compete each action, and has been given 4 time extension chips they may use to extend their time by another 30 seconds each. The clock has been paused briefly as this new element in the tournament is being added to each table – play will resume momentarily.

We missed the hand that the propelled Mike Leah above and beyond the 1 million chip mark, however some of the chips clearly came from table-mate Nghi Van Tran, whose big stack was cut down to less-than-average.

Mike has now taken over the top spot on the leaderboard, playing roughly 1.1 million as we near the money-bubble.

The Action Clock will be set-up on all remaining tables in 2 eliminations, once the field reaches the final 14 tables.

Andrew Macdonald opened to 13,000 from late position, and Jason James placed a raise to 63,000 from the small blind. Once a 4 of Spades 3 of Clubs 6 of Clubs flop was rolled out, Jason continued with a bet of 50,000, and Andrew went into the tank before announcing he was all-in, covering his opponent.

Jason deliberated for a few minutes before deciding to commit the remainder of his 175,000 stack, and then tabled Ace of Clubs King of Spades. He needed to connect in order to stay in the tournament, as Andrew flipped over 7 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds, however with no help on the 6 of Diamonds turn or 3 of Hearts river, he was eliminated from the field.

Mike Leah opened the action to 15,000 from under the gun, and Shawn Daigle moved all-in for 73,000 next to act. Once play folded around to Nghi Van Tran in the small blind, he bumped it up to 150,000, forcing Mike out of the hand.

Nghi Van tabled Queen of Diamonds Queen of Hearts and was well ahead of Shawn’s Jack of Spades Jack of Clubs, especially once a Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs 6 of Spades flop was rolled out. He jokingly stated that he should’ve just flat-called pre-flop to allow Mike into the hand.

With that pot Nghi Van jumped up above 650,000 in chips, while Shawn placed a few spots shy of the money.
