David Guay’s chip stack is riding a roller coaster ride on Day 4 of the Main Event. On back-to-back hands, Guay doubled up Michael O’Sullivan, only to take his chips right back.

On the first hand in this series, Guay’s Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts ran into O’Sullivan’s King of Diamonds King of Clubs. Following the board of 10 of Hearts 9 of Hearts 3 of Spades 4 of Clubs Queen of Clubs, the two were all in on the river, giving O’Sullivan the double up. However, on the very next hand, Guay shoved over O’Sullivan’s under-the-gun raise and was called. This time, it was Queen of Diamonds Queen of Clubs for Guay and Ace of Hearts 10 of Hearts for O’Sullivan, but Guay came out on top, as the King of Hearts 6 of Spades 7 of Spades King of Spades Jack of Diamonds board allowed the pocket queens to prevail.

Update: Guay hits the rail in 11th

With under 1M in chips remaining, Guay’s rollercoaster eventually came to an end today in a hand against Patrick Serda immediately following the previous two hands.

On a board reading 6 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds Jack of Spades King of Spades 4 of Hearts, David moved all in after the pot had already built up considerably. After confirming the count, Patrick made the call.

David: 10 of Clubs 8 of Clubs
Serda: Queen of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Guay had missed his flush and was eliminated in 11th.

    11th place: David Guay, $67,000

    Babakhani out in 12th

    • Small Blind: 25K

    • BB Ante: 50K

Amir Babakhani, the winner of the 2013 WPT Canadian Spring Championship here at Playground, has been eliminated in 12th place in the Main Event.

We missed the preflop action – when we arrived at the table, Amir (button) was all in against Sorel Mizzi (co) for just over 500,000.

Sorel: King of Clubs King of Diamonds
Amir: Ace of Spades King of Hearts

Amir was drawing thin and the 2 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds board provided little help. The turn 10 of Diamonds added a few outs, but the 10 of Hearts river card wasn’t one of them.

    12th place: Amir Babakhani, $67,000

    Deadman out in thirteenth

    • Level: 27
    • Small Blind: 25K
    • Big Blind: 50K
    • BB Ante: 50K
    • Chip Average: 2.64M
    • Remaining: 12
    • Entries: 792

We have just had our first elimination of Day 4. Simon Deadman, who started the day with the shortest stack in play, was sent packing by Upeshka De Silva, following a pre-flop all in.

De Silva had opened the action from his button, attacking Deadman’s big blind. When Deadman came over the top with a raise, the two quickly got their chips in the middle and cards were tabled. It was 5 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs for Deadman, up against De Silva’s Ace of Clubs 7 of Spades, in a familiar tournament race. De Silva took a commanding lead on the Ace of Spades 9 of Clubs Jack of Clubs flop, one that he would not relinquish on the 2 of Diamonds turn or 9 of Diamonds river.

Deadman will collect $53,000 for his deep Main Event run.

The cards are in the air on Day 4!

    • Level: 27
    • Small Blind: 25K
    • Big Blind: 50K
    • BB Ante: 50K
    • Chip Average: 2.4M
    • Remaining: 13
    • Entries: 792

The Main Event is set to play down to the final table today, as only 13 players remain from a starting field of 792 entries.

The final two tables are full of familiar names, including two former WPT champions, Ema Zajmovic and Amir Babakhani, but they all trail Patrick Serda, our current chip leader, who is playing a stack just shy of 5 million.

The players will grind through as many 90-minute levels as it takes to reduce the field to six finalists, who will return tomorrow for the final table.

    Good luck to all!
