The High Roller event in the 2018 WPT Montreal Festival will resume on Saturday November 3 at 2:00pm. There were 31 players that made it to the end of Day 1 with chips, and there have also been 6 new entries who will begin play from the beginning of Day 2 – these players have been added to the following seating chart (the stack displayed is the starting stack in the tourney). There are many free seats at the tables to start tomorrow – this is intentional, to accommodate new entries and randomly mix these players in throughout the tournament.

The blinds in level 9 will be 300/600 with a big blind ante of 600. Players will note that this level is a repeat of level 8 – and it also allows new entrants to the tourney to begin with 50bb. Registration is open through the first 4 levels of Day 2 and through to the end of the 45-minute dinner break following level 12. In other words, you can show up any time until 7:00pm and get into this fantastic event.

Day 1 of the $10,000 + $300 High Roller tournament has officially come to a close.

Day 1 in the tournament saw a total of 55 entries (including 13 re-entries) take to the felts, but at the end of the day there were only 31 players left at their seats. At the top of the leaderboard is Tommy Nguyen, who currently has 119,800 chips. Right behind him is John Krpan with 102,000 and Erik Lemarquand with 101,000.

This event, which features a guaranteed $1,000,000 prize pool, allows for unlimited re-entries right into the beginning of level 13 on Day 2. Day 2 begins tomorrow at 2pm, which means that registration will remain open until 7:00pm. Judging by the interest in the event shown today by players in the room but who have not yet joined, tomorrow should see a steady stream of entries right until the end of the late registration period.

Below are some photos of our High Roller competitors. We’ll see them all tomorrow when they come back for Day 2!

James Romero recently joined table 65 and has just doubled through Erik Lemarquand to give his stack a healthy bump. We arrived at the table on the flop with the board reading 9 of Clubs King of Hearts 4 of Clubs, and James, who had been in the sb, bet 2,900 with less than 30K behind. Action moved on Erik, who spent some time considering his options before raising to 30,000 – enough to put James all in. James made the call.

James: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs
Erik: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds

Erik was in much worse shape than he bargained for – James had top pair but also the redraw to the nut flush. His final hand turned out to be even stronger than that as the turn and river each paired the board: King of Spades 4 of Diamonds, giving James the full house and a full double up through the chip leader.
