Following the break that occurred after level 8, a chip count revealed that it is a pretty tight race among the competitors in tonight’s tournament. With 82 players still in the field, Tracy Hutton has taken a tiny lead over Julie Poliquin, the leader after the first break. Tracy’s chip count of 97,000 chips is more than double the stack average of 45K. But her slim lead is only 1,000 chips more than Julie’s.

An interesting aside, all three of Tracy’s next closest competitors are all playing on the same table, #82.

Jasmine Laframboise, who placed 6th in the World Cup of Cards Women’s event last year here at Playground, has just won a big hand on table 97.  Preflop, Carrie Webster raised to 2,600 and Jasmine called. When the dealer revealed 6 of Spades 10 of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds, Carrie bet 5,000, and Jasmine immediately called. When the turn was revealed King of Hearts, Carrie pushed harder, betting 10,000. But Jasmine quickly raised; Carrie debated, but eventually called.

Once the dealer revealed the river 4 of Spades, Jasmine revealed Jack of Hearts King of Diamonds and Carrie showed her 8 of Clubs 9 of Clubs.  The river hadn’t help Carrie make her straight, and Jasmine won the pot with a pair of kings.

She was followed closely behind by Longueuil, Quebec resident, Bigette Korak, whose stack measured 54,000 chips. There are several other players hovering around the 50,000 chip count, including Julianne Aram Papazian, from Cannes France.
