The PLO event is now 5-way, and our remaining players are on break, allowing the removal of the T1,000 chips. Lynn Phan is the current chip leader, but Micheal Khan is very close.

Zheng-Yi Xie did a pretty good job at staying out of trouble throughout the final table so far, but he was down to about 100K and chose a spot. He raised the pot: 42K. Michael Khan stuck around, and they got it in on the flop.

Xie: 8 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts 7 of Hearts
Khan: 4 of Clubs Ace of Diamonds 8 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs

Board: 5 of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs 5 of Hearts 3 of Clubs

Khan was looking very good on the flop, facing a wrap but holding some diamond blockers, along with 2 pairs that quickly boated up. Xie left, possibly to join a PLO 5-5 cash table where he regularly sits with the boys.

    6th place: Zheng-Yi Xie – $5,000

    Kozlov bites the dust

Martin Kozlov was the shortest stack on the table – 46K – and was all-in against Lynn Phan and Jean-Serge Baril. The action was then checked to the river, at which point Phan took Baril out of the hand with a 65K bet.

Kozlov:Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds Queen of Spades 8 of Clubs
Phan: Jack of Spades Jack of Hearts 5 of Spades 9 of Clubs

Board: 8 of Spades Jack of Clubs Queen of Clubs 2 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds

Kozlov looked rather confident with his boat, but Phan had a bigger one, and scooped the pot.

    7th place: Martin Kozlov – $4,000

    Excellent performance!

    Siwiec takes the exit

    • Level: 19
    • Small Blind: 6K
    • Big Blind: 12K
    • BB Ante: 0
    • Chip Average: 445K
    • Remaining: 7

Piotr Siwiec was the chip leader for the longest time, having built a stack in level 1. He led the tournament until late in the evening, but the field caught up to him with 2 tables left. He recently lost a lot of chips to Frédéric Normand, and just busted when his remaining 80K were matched by François Goulet.

Siwiec: King of Hearts King of Diamonds 4 of Hearts 6 of Spades
Goulet: Queen of Hearts Ace of Hearts 6 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs

Board: 8 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds 7 of Clubs 2 of Spades 6 of Clubs

Goulet’s aces held up, and Siwiec fell in 8th place, good for $3,300. Well done!

    Normand runs it up

    • Level: 19
    • Small Blind: 6K
    • Big Blind: 12K

    • Chip Average: 390K
    • Remaining: 8

Frédéric Normand, with 3 tables left, was chip leading the PLO tournament, until he was crippled by an unfortunate turn of events. He managed to show up on the final table with a very short stack, but won back to back all-in, played on multiple street.

In the last one, he got involved in a pot against Piotr Siwiec. He was in position, and threw 20K on the flop, creating a decent size pot, slightly over what he had left. They both checked the turn, and when Siwiec announced pot on the river, Normand snap called, as was his plan.

Normand: Queen of Hearts 6 of Hearts Ace of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds
Siwiec: 6 of Spades 6 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts

Board: 4 of Hearts 7 of Hearts 8 of Hearts 7 of Diamonds

Chris Arvanitis, after doubling his micro stack, fell to Lynn Phan. He potted pre-flop to 35K and got a call from Phan on the big blind. The erst of the chips – about 50K – went in on the flop.

Arvanitis: Queen of Hearts Queen of Diamonds Jack of Hearts King of Diamonds
Phan: 7 of Clubs Ace of Diamonds 6 of Clubs 8 of Hearts

Board: 2 of Hearts King of Clubs 4 of Clubs 8 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs

Arvanitis was ahead, but Phan hit the ace of clubs on the river, beating her opponent on 2 fronts.

    9th place: Chris Arvanitis – $2,850

    Congratulations!

    Chris Arvanitis
