Ljubomir Josipovic had an amazing 2nd stint, but so did our chip leader Piotr Siwiec. Siwiec has been solid chip leader since the very beginning, but now has a serious contender in Josipovic.

We found 4 6-digit stacks in the field, and the final number of entries is 104, just enough to get over the promised 100K prize pool. The payouts will be made available shortly.

    Here is our leaderboard:

We came across an all-in showdown on the flop that represented a pretty a common occurrence in the game of PLO: monster made hand vs monster draw.

All the chips were in on a 9 of Diamonds 3 of Clubs Queen of Hearts flop, and players tabled their hands:

Joel Sheres: 9 of Hearts 3 of Diamonds King of Diamonds 9 of Clubs
Gino Frenette: 10 of Diamonds 2 of Diamonds Jack of Clubs 10 of Clubs

We were looking at a strong set of nines trying to fade 7 straight outs – Sheres had a blocker – but the turn came with a lot of spice:

    Ace of Clubs

A monster draw was created… but the 2 of Spades on the river might as well have been a piece of scrap paper. Sheres picked up the pot.

The PLO event is nearing the first break. In level 4, Samuel Miranda threw a 6K bet on a river, thinking he could steal a pot from Pirooz Bayat, but the latter was on a river check bump-raise! Miranda folded.

Meanwhile, Kevin Rivest, who had built a very nice stack early, lost half of it to Daniel Neilson’s 4 of Diamonds 3 of Spades 6 of Diamonds 5 of Spades. Neilson flopped the nut straight, and despite the board pairing on the turn – 6 of Clubs 2 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts Queen of Clubs – he managed to double a full stack through Kevin.

Level 4 of the $1,100 PLO just started, and 8 players have already hit the rail, 4 of which have chosen to re-enter. The field just passed the 50-entry mark, which is half what is needed to reach the 100K guarantee. That being said, there are 5 more levels to the registration period, and as the blinds get higher, re-entries will pick up the pace.

A very special guest just joined the event: Mr. Mike Sexton! Member of the Poker Hall of Fame, Mike is also the official partypoker Chairman and one of the most famous poker commentators on the planet. In a very dramatic and poetic turn of events, after commentating WPT finals for years, he took down his very first WPT title in 2016, right here at Playground Poker Club! Come check raise the legend!

Event 6 – PLO is underway. The tournament started on 3 tables, but we are now into level 2, and 38 players have joined the event so far. The action unfolds on the left side of the tournament hall, and the field is a happy mix of local PLO regulars and visiting players, eager to rub shoulders with the Montreal PLO scene.
