Preflop, Steven Martin raised to 2,000. Shaun Bowring upped the stakes, going all in. Jean-Pierre Poirier called, and when the betting returned to Steven, he folded up his cards. Shaun revealed the pair he was holding 4 of Clubs 4 of Spades, and Jean-Pierre laid down his Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades. After Shaun looked at Jean-Pierre’s hand, he stood up immediately.

The flop came down Ace of Diamonds 5 of Clubs 3 of Clubs. It wasn’t looking good for Shaun, especially after the turn was dealt Queen of Diamonds. But when the 4 of Diamonds was revealed on the river, Shaun expressed relief. As he returned to his seat Shaun was congratulated by Steven. His three 4s helped him live to see another hand.

A very well known player here at Playground is in the lead of Event 7, the $550 6-Max. His name is Stuart Taylor, and he doesn’t miss a festival here. Who could blame him, he keeps performing! His table actually harbours our current 2 biggest stacks, as Eric Bienenstock is sitting across the table.

The field just dropped under 100 players, and will play down to a winner tonight. Here is our actual top 5:

First Name | PrénomLast Name | NomStack | Tapis

Sébastien Proulx shows how it’s done

    • Level: 6
    • Small Blind: 300
    • Big Blind: 500
    • BB Ante: 500
    • Chip Average: 36.8K

The first break is now passed in the $550 6-Max, and local pillar Sébastien Proulx is in the driver’s seat with 80,000 chips. A regular achiever in the Monday night 6-Max daily tournament here at Playground, he now shows the big league what he’s made of.

Of course, a whole lot of poker is ahead, and the volatile nature of this format denies any stack the comfort zone at this point.

Proulx is followed by Giovanni Massa and Nader Ammar. All players are looking at a truly bloated prize pool, as the guarantee is almost doubled, with another 4 levels of play before this turns into a freezeout!

The 6-Max fills up the room

    • Level: 5
    • Small Blind: 200
    • Big Blind: 400
    • BB Ante: 400
    • Chip Average: 33.9K
    • Remaining: 140
    • Entries: 158

The 6-Max, as expected, is filling up nicely. In the new hall, short-handed tables almost extend to the stage where the WPT Main Event final table unwinds. After 5 levels of play, the guarantee is already smashed.

A few recognizable faces were spotted in the field, including Miguel Goncalo, the winner of the WPT500 from earlier in the week. He’s back for more!

Players have another hour and a half to jump in the last event of the WPT Montreal 2018, or reload if they hit a wall!

Cards are in the air in the 6-Max!

    2018/11/04 | 15:15 by Jôle Simard

Event 7 in the WPT Montreal just started, and already over 70 players are registered and looking at their first hands. The 6-Max format is a true player favourite, as it brings a lot of action.

Players will play down to a winner in our brand new tournament floor. Players start with 30 000 chips and levels will be 20-minute long. You have until 6:15PM to join the 6-Max action.

Good luck to all short-handed players!
