Jahkheem Polydore has had a rollercoaster ride on this Day 3, and finally he has been eliminated in 7th place for $3,350.

We weren’t at the table for the early action in the hand, but on a board reading 4 of Clubs 5 of Spades 9 of Clubs raised all in over Stephane Blouin-Verroeulst’s bet. He got a call, and was well ahead having flopped a set holding 4 of Spades 4 of Hearts. Stephane was holding Ace of Hearts Ace of Diamonds and after the 3 of Diamonds turn, he hit his own set on the river Ace of Spades to sent Jahkheem to the rail.

Just one or two hands later, Adam Cader was also eliminated on unknown action.

    6th place: Adam Cader, $4,050

    7th place: Jahkheem Polydore, $3,350

Mohammadamin Khalilian had been rolling well all day until fateful hand with a not-so-shortstacked Jahkheem Polydore, whose Ace of Clubs King of Hearts out-drew Mohammedamin’s 4 of Clubs 4 of Spades on a board that read 2 of Hearts 5 of Spades 10 of Diamonds King of Diamonds 6 of Spades. This left Mohammedamin with under 200,000 in chips and he was in trouble.

With the big blind (and its ante) coming around, Mohammedamin decided to get it all in from utg, and his stack was small enough that he got four callers: Jean-François Stoycheff, Stephane Blouin-Verroeulst, and Alexandre Mongrain.

The flop came out Ace of Spades 2 of Diamonds 9 of Hearts and the action was checked around between the three non-all-in players. The turn was the 7 of Diamonds and this time the action went check-check-bet 225K… fold-fold and Stephane, the players who had made the bet, flipped over his Ace of Clubs 9 of Clubs for flopped two pairs. Mohammadamin showed 8 of Spades 7 of Hearts and left the table.

    8th place: Mohammadamin Khalilian, $2,670

The final table of 9 players has now been set in the Playground 200. Robert Turcotte and Alexandre Mongrain – who started the day with the two smallest stacks – have both made the final 9, and Alexandre seems to be the current chip leader.

Update: Robert was eliminated almost as soon as play resumed on the final table.

Griffin Mason is a well-known local tournament player with obvious skills and a history of deep runs, but even a skilled player can’t overcome a glut of bad luck at the wrong time. He started the day relatively short-stacked and in early play managed to chip up quite a bit, but eventually lost a few hands in a row as the favourite and found himself short and in trouble.

He was playing on the button when he chose to open shove his final 600K in chips, only to get a quick call from Stephane Blouin-Verroeulst.

Griffin: King of Diamonds 10 of Hearts
Stephane: Ace of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Griffin was looking good on the 8 of Spades 10 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds flop, and the turn 5 of Clubs was no bother – but the Jack of Hearts on the river was all Stephane needed to eliminate Griffin and get a needed stack-boost as well.

    10th place: Griffin Mason, $1,660

There were two more quick eliminations in level 26 as Joseph Abou-Khalil and John Araujo were sent to the rail, and when Adam Cader was relocated to table 20, both remaining tables settled into 5-handed action. With the next elimination will come a full redraw as the final 9 players are brought together on the final table. Play has now moved into level 27.
