The 152 players went on break in the Day 1D tournament. We were understandably curious to find out where the chips are stacked.

Four players have separated themselves from the rest of the pack by amassing more than 70,000 chips. Chip leader Stephen Langlois has a sizeable head start with 96,375 chips. The night is still young, the registration period is open until 10:15pm and we’ll keep an eye on the leaders.

Here is the first leaderboard of the night.

Things are well under way in this last Day 1 of Event #2 Playground 200. Players are gradually filling-up the tournament hall, joining the 123 players already seated. This is already the largest turnout of all Day 1’s and the players keep arriving.

Players start with 25,000 chips and may elect to re-enter as many times as they wish. Play is 10-handed tonight, Day 2 (tomorrow) will be 9-handed and Day 3 (Sunday) will see 8-handed action until there are 9 players left for the final table.

The registration period is open until the beginning of level 7, so players have until 10:15pm to register or re-enter.

Here are a few photos of the players.

Pellerin bags the top stack in Day 1C

    2019/02/22 - 19:32 by Bob T

As expected, the last few levels of Day 1C played out with all kinds of exciting poker action.  Short stacks shoved, big stacks called. Some players doubled up. Others busted out. That’s tournament poker.

The big stacks played right up until the very end, but avoided clashing with each other.  When it was all said and done, Pierre Pellerin, the chip leader from the last break, was able to maintain the lead and bagged 315,500 chips.  Following closely behind Pierre is John Araujo, who bagged 306,500 chips. The 3rd largest stack belongs to Cameron Wilson (217,500 chips), who also was playing one of the larger stacks all afternoon. In 4th place is Playground tournament reg Luc Lariviere (202,000 chips).

The last chance to qualify is happening right now in Day 1D, and late registration is open until 10:15pm, so why not come on down and take a shot at this $100,000 guaranteed prize pool!

Consult the Playground 200 Combined Day 1 Results page to see all Day 2 qualifiers (including counts).

The tournament just got underway here at Playground Poker. This is the last chance to qualify for Event #2 Day 2 that is set to get underway tomorrow at 1:00pm.

Right now we have 57 entries and everyone expects that number to go up, as is the custom on the last Day 1 flight.
So like the man said: “Dealers! Shuffle-up and deal!”.

Pellerin leads at the final break

    • Level: 12
    • Small Blind: 800
    • Big Blind: 1.6K
    • BB Ante: 1.6K
    • Chip Average: 91.2K

    2019/02/22 - 17:38 by Bob T

Stacks are starting to grow now that almost another 40 players have left the tournament. This is normal as more than half of today’s eliminations took place since our last break.

One player, Pierre Pellerin, has managed to leap way ahead of the field, amassing a little bit more than double the 2nd place runner-up.  The tournament is now moving into level 12, which means it is down to the last 3 levels of play in Day 1C.  This is when we traditionally see the short stacks trying to run up their counts so that they can return on Day 2 with some breathing room.

Often in these multi-day events there are also a few coolers in the last few levels, especially when two of the larger stacks are on the same table and end up fighting it out in a big hand.  Stay tuned for more updates as we report on the action.
