The levels are skipping by quickly in this turbo flight, but there is still over two hours remaining in the late registration and re-entry period.

So far, 42 players have entered, each of them hoping to run their stack up high enough to have a fighting chance in tonight’s Day 2.

Here is a look at the field:

The March Power Weekend gets into full swing today with multiple tournaments on tap, including the fourth and final starting flight for the Playground 500, Day 1D.

Today’s flight is a turbo, meaning that the blind levels will be reduced to 20 minutes, to allow time for fourteen levels of play before Day 2 gets underway tonight at 7pm. Players will start with the same 50,000 chip starting stack and late registration will be available until 3:15pm. Since this is the last chance to dance in this event, expect to see many players take advantage of the unlimited re-entry option this afternoon.

With three starting flights already in the books, 60 players have advanced bags to tonight’s Day 2.

The cards are now in the air. Good luck to all!

Another STEP on the road to MILLIONS

    2019/03/21 - 20:03 by Shawn McCrory

The March Power Weekend is offering players lots of ways to play their way in to the premier event of the year, the MILLIONS North America, beginning with tonight’s STEP 1 satellite.

As with all other STEP 1 satellites, tonight’s edition comes at a modest $80 + $10 buy-in with a turbo re-entry format. But unlike some of the others, tonight’s satellite guarantees at least ten STEP 2 seats. Those who advance will be automatically registered for the STEP 2 satellite on March 23 at 8pm.

Players can buy-in directly to any STEP along the way, but the STEP 1s offer some unbeatable value. Nowhere else will you find an opportunity to get into such a big tournament at such a tiny fraction of the buy-in cost. There have already been a number of qualifiers to play their way into the Main Event from a single STEP 1 entry, and tonight is your chance to be the next one!

    Day 1B in the bag

    2019/03/21 - 19:05 by Shawn McCrory

Play has just concluded on Day 1B of the Playground 500. This flight brought out 76 entries, and 20 players survived until the end to bag chips for tomorrow’s Day 2. The flight was characterized by peaks and valleys in the action; there were flurries of big hands but also long stretches of relatively tight, cautious play. In the end, the survivors were led by Diana Shamshoum who rose to the top of the leader board in the late stages and bagged 546,000 in chips.

    • Remaining: 23
    • Entries: 76

    2019/03/21 - 18:18 by Shawn McCrory

The field in Day 1B has been reduced to 25 players on three tables. With a little more than 30 minutes to play, no one wants to hit the rail at this stage, but the prospect of bagging a tiny stack is equally discouraging so the shorter stacks are feeling the pressure at this point.

Here’s an updated look at the players in the field:

    • Small Blind: 1.5K
    • Big Blind: 3K
    • BB Ante: 3K

    • Remaining: 31
    • Entries: 76

The players have just returned from their final break in this flight and only 32 remain.

A number of players were sent to the rail shortly before the break, as the pressure of the blinds started to show its effects. Although the chip average still provides just shy of forty big blinds, the remaining players will not be content to bag a small stack for Day 2 so we are likely to see some fireworks during the last three levels.

David Bonneau seized the chip lead within the last hour and has only added to his stack since; he is now sitting comfortably with 123 big blinds.
