After 9 levels of play, the STEP 2 satellite for the MILLIONS North America is now on break. The end of the break will also signal the end of the late registration (or re-entry) period.

In total, no less than 93 players tried their hand for one of the coveted 25 seats into STEP 3 Sunday.

Right now, 69 players are still in; witch means that approximately 35% of those players will move on to the STEP 3.

Obviously, in satellite play, the player’s final chip counts don’t really matter because survival is key. But as a player, it’s always good to know where the chips lay.

So, with this in mind, we set our sights on players with at least 70,000, approximately twice the average. Sure enough we found four such players.

The MILLIONS North America Main Event $400 + $40 Turbo Re-entry – STEP 2 just started.

This is a Must-Play event into the STEP 3 that will be held on Sunday March 24th, at 7:00PM.

Tonight’s STEP 2 has a whopping 25 seats guarantee, which makes essentially makes it a “don’t miss” event. Players are starting with 25,000 tournament chips and the blinds are going up every 16 minutes.

This tournament also features unlimited re-entries. This means players may register or re-enter until the beginning of level 10 at approximately 10:30PM.

Right now there are 79 players in the action, there is still plenty of time to come and join them.

Those 25 lucky players will automatically advance to the the STEP 3 satellite on Sunday, March 24th at 8:00PM.

The tournament director put the action in “hand for hand” mode when the players were down to 11. After a few hands in this format, Hélène Korak raised preflop to 11,000, and after a few moments, Antoine Sankari turned up the pressure and pushed all-in. The other players folded, leaving Hélène with a hard decision. Antoine had more chips, so it was do or die. After some thought, she grabbed all her chips and said, “all-in”, slamming the stack on the table and showing .

This didn’t sit well with Antoine who turned over his hand: . Things were looking great for Hélène. Unfortunately for Hélène, the window was hiding a card that would sent her to the rail, on the flop. Still hopeful, Hélène asked for a king, but the turn and river would not save her.

The conclusion of this hand signaled the end of the satellite and made 10 smilling winners the lucky recipients of the coveted STEP 2 tickets. Players will be returning to the tables tomorrow at 8:00PM when the STEP 2 kicks off. Any player can buy directly into any of the steps. STEP 2 buy-ins are $445, and STEP 3 buy-ins are $1,665.

This year, MILLIONS North America has moved from a $5,300 buy-in to a $10,300 buy-in Main Event, and boasts a $5,000,000 guarantee.

There are now only two starting flights and the tournament follows a next-day re-entry format, allowing a maximum of two possible entries per player.
