Day 1a – final chip counts
Here are the final chip counts for Day 1a of The Wild $150 – Event 1 of the Playground Poker Spring Classic 2015.
There were a total of 298 entrants in this first of four starting flights in Event 1. 72 of these players have qualified for Day 2 on Wednesday, April 22nd at 7pm. Any player who played in Day 1a, whether they qualified or not, may play in one or more additional starting flights. In the event that a player qualifies in two or more Day 1s, only their largest stack will move forward to Day 2. We will provide detailed records of any such activity when the official seating draw for Day 2 is released on Tuesday night.
Note that these are unverified player-counted chip counts. All chips have been sealed in bags until they return to play on Day 2.

Last level of Day 1a
Play has reached the final level to be played in today’s Day 1a flight and there are just 82 players remaining with another 20 minutes (approximately) left to go. As play winds down in this first flight of the Wild $150, four players have opened up a gap between them and the rest of the field.
- Christopher Tavares – 220K
- Nicolas Bastien – 198K
- Franco Sicondolfi – 180K
- Pierre Duguay – 165K
Quite a few more players are sure to hit the rail before the end of the day, and those who remain will have qualified for Day 2, to be held on Wednesday April 22 at 7pm. Anyone – qualified or not – may choose to play additional Day 1 flights. Any player who qualifies multiple times will forfeit their smallest stack before play begins on Day 2.
Full chip counts from today’s Day 1a will be available shortly after play concludes.
Photo update
The players have come to the end of level 10 in this, the first of four flights in The Wild $150. With just 13 levels to be played in Day 1, the conclusion of this starting flight is starting to loom for some short-stacked players – while those with more chips continue to push to add to their holdings by the end of the day.
Game night!
Remember that if you plan on watching the game tonight, there nothing like the atmosphere here at Playground Poker Club! Imagine more than 50 HD LCD TVs covering almost every square foot of wall space, each tuned to the game… and hundreds of other fans watching with you…
So come on out tonight and play in Day 1b of The Wild $150, or jump on one of the many cash tables that will be in action tonight… whichever you choose, you won’t miss a second of the action.
Some chip leaders in Event 1 (1a)
Players in The Wild $150 Day 1a are on break and while the remaining 169 players were away from the tables we found some of the large stacks in the room following level 8. At this point there are a lot of players who have started to build but just 3 who have managed to hit the 100K mark.

ICYMI: New felts!
Both cash game and tournament tables are re-felted regularly here at Playground Poker Club, but when there’s a big event on the horizon we try to pull out all the stops! We have often had black felts in the tournament hall – featuring the festival and sponsor logos, they’re always super sharp looking.
But… this time around we opted for a design that’s quite a bit different. If you follow us on Twitter (@PlaygroundPoker, naturally) you may have seen these already… but if not – here are the new-look tournament tables!
We’ve also replaced the highway sign – it’s going to be easier than ever to see the turnoff as you drive down route 138!
Day 1a players back from break
The players in Day 1a of The Wild $150 are back from their first break of the day, and with the end of the break came the end of late registration for this flight. The total number of entries for this first of four flights is 298 – with 248 remaining in the action in level 5. Play will continue today until the end of level 13.
During the break we surveyed the tables to see if any chip leaders had established themselves, but although there seem to be a couple of players who are hovering around the 40K mark, no one has really established a dominant stack at this point in the day. That’s sure to change by the time the next break arrives!
22 minutes left to register
Play in Day 1a of The Wild $150 has moved past the half-way point of level 4, which means there remain just 22 minutes left to late register for today’s starting flight!
If you can’t make it out today, you’re more than welcome to play in Day 1b, which starts tonight at 7pm. Don’t worry about the hockey game – we’re just as big hockey fans as anyone, and the game will be on all of the TVs with the sound ON so you won’t miss a thing!
Here are some of the players supporting their favourite team this afternoon. (One of these things is not like the others: Players Club member Jean-Philippe Piquette is a Chicago fan).

Cards are in the air in Event 1!
The Wild $150 is now underway as the tournament staff have made their opening announcements and 169 players have taken their seats at the tables in the Tournament Hall. Late registration is open through 4 30-minute levels – so players have until about 10 past 1pm to get out to Playground and jump in the event. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for another 75 or more players to late reg, so it’s clear that Event 1 is off to a roaring start!
Good luck!
