Day 1B closes with 256 Day 2 qualifiers

2017/05/07 - 1:20 by Jôle Simard

Day 1B of the Million North America was a tremendous success. 589 entries were accounted for, and with yesterday’s 372, we now have 961 entries live, and 46 entries online, for total of 1005! This number is not quite final, as registration will re-open tomorrow for a duration of 2 levels, after which we will be able to publish the official prize pool and payouts.

256 players bagged chips today, and will join the 137 that made the cut in Day 1A, as well as the 17 combined Day 2 qualifiers from the online starting flights. These numbers possibly contain duplicates, so we cannot at this moment add them to know the number of players that will start tomorrow, but the size of the Day 2 field and the seating arrangements will be published tonight.

As far as the results of Day 1B are concerned, the full list has been added to the Combined Day 1 Results list, but Mike Vesia (8,200,000), Rodney Ramalho (8,100,000), and Kelly Kellner (7,519,000) all moved into the overall top 5 with Mike and Rodney in the #1 and #2 position overall. Lurking right behind these leaders, however is the hugely talented Darren Elias with 6,885,000.

We’ll be publishing the full seating draw for Day 2 shortly.

See you at 12pm sharp tomorrow!

Joe Sicko, winner of the partypoker Millionaire promotional contest, is currently sitting at his Day 1B table in the tournament hall, trying to take his photoshop chops into the poker arena. He is currently sitting on about 2,650,000. There is only 1 more level to the day, making it likely for him to send a decent stack to tomorrow’s Day 2.

We wish him the best of luck in making those images come true!

An image being worth a thousand words, here are a few examples of his handiwork. We think that you will understand right away why he was the happy winner of a Million North America seat. You can also visit his Twitter page to see all of his creations; he goes by the username @Red_Sicko.

Surveying the tables, we came across a hand that propelled Poorya Nazari into the current top 5 stacks. James Romero open-raised to 31K from the under-the-gun position, and watched Won Taek Lim, sitting on his immediate left, 3-bet him to 100K. Action was folded around until Nazari 4-bet from the small blind to 300K.

Romero went to the tank, and after so much action, it was easy to guess that he was holding a very big starting hand. He asked to see Nazari’s stack, thought some more, and finally committed all of his chips into the pot, going from an initial 2.5x raise to a 5-bet all-in. Lim quickly jumped out, and Nazari called even quicker.

Poorya Nazari:   Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades
James Romero:  King of Spades King of Clubs

Nazari was covered by about 900K, while his own 1.7M was at risk. The board came out 7 of Diamonds Jack of Spades 6 of Hearts 5 of Spades 5 of Clubs, and Romero’s stack was so demoted to just under 1M. Nazari, however, now enjoys a very nice top-of-the-leaderboard 3.5M stack.

Day 1A sends 137 players to Day 2 – Sylvain Siebert bags the lead

2017/05/06 - 0:49 by Jôle Simard

Day 1A in the Million North America has now come to a close. This first of 2 Live flights welcomed 372 players, and when the dust had settled, 137 players bagged their chips onto Day 2.

Tomorrow is Day 1B of the Event, and we can expect a great number of registrations, as the Saturday flight is always the most crowded. The last satellite is unfolding as we write these lines, and will award 24 seats for Day 1B. Also, Sit ‘n Gos and Flip ‘n Gos continue to run on demand, and constantly add seats into tomorrow’s starting flight. In other words, Day 1B will be adding a vast crowd of Day 2 qualifiers to today’s list, building a very nice field for Sunday’s Day 2.

Sylvain Siebert ended the day with the biggest stack. He has been moving a lot of chips, all day, every orbit. His table was by far the heaviest, and Dilovan Hussein, who finished 4th in chips, sparred with him quite a lot as the levels went by.

Here is a look at our top 5 stacks for Day 1A:

  • Sylvain Siebert – 7,744,000
  • Nipun Java – 7,387,000
  • Julian Milliard-Feral – 7,252,000
  • Dilovan Hussein – 7,200,000
  • Vojtech Ruzicka – 7,124,000

A full list of Day 2 qualifiers including counts is available on the partypoker Million North America Combined Results page.

See you tomorrow!

Partypoker is throwing a players party at the Rail

2017/05/05 - 22:56 by Jôle Simard

At the Rail Coal Fire Bistro, partypoker is currently having a players party. Drinks are offered to our players, and if you make your way over there, you will be able to admire a magnificent ice sculpture, bearing the partypoker logo and the Event’s brand name.

Head over to the Rail for some drinks!

Dilovan Hussein leads the heaviest table

Dilovan Hussein (title picture) was the early chip leader in the partypoker Million North America, but slowed down for a few hours. He is now back on top, leading the tournament, and sitting on the heaviest table of the Event.

On his table, you can find 6 players with over 3M in chips, including 3 that are sitting on more than 5M. With the current average at 2M, it is safe to say that ammunition is flying over there. It is believed that Sylvain Siebert (about 3.5M at the moment) has a lot to do with it, being a jolly chip mover, but Francis Lavallée and Patrick Eskandar also seem to be very active.

While Dilovan Hussein works his 6,615,000 stack with flair on that table, Philippe D’Auteuil continues to crush his own. He has been moved to a new one, which suffers the same yoke. He is at 6,120,000 in chips.
