Jason Conforti

The first break is now passed, and with it the end of late registration. A total of 79 players found their way to Playground Poker Club to compete in Day 1E of the Grand Prix Canada Event. This means that 8 players will qualify for Day 2. We will therefore form a final table, and play will go on until 2 finalists are eliminated.

After 6 levels of play, it is no surprise that Jason Conforti towers above the field, having built a 80K stack. The day is still young, but this player sure knows how to put chips to work!

Players are shooting chips in a relaxed fashion, in a tournament hall that displays the typical week-day afternoon calm… for the last time in this Event. Entries are building up nicely, having reached 75, with just under an hour left to late registration.

Day 1C is in the books

2017/04/26 - 20:02 by Jôle Simard

Our 10 qualifiers for Day 1C were decided moments ago, when Michael Moussis opened to 50K and Florin Barburasa went all-in for about 100K. As he called, Moussis tabled King of Diamonds Jack of Hearts, and realized he was not too far behind when Barburasa showed his Ace of Diamonds 3 of Hearts. The board came: 9 of Clubs Ace of Hearts Queen of Clubs 10 of Clubs 9 of Hearts. The turn put an end to this flight, and offered even more chips to Moussis, who was already very well off. His finishing stack counts more than twice as many chips as any other.

This concludes our third Live flight of the Grand Prix, as Day 1D gets underway. Below is a list of our Day 1C qualifiers and their stacks, and you can consult the combined qualifiers list here.

With only 3 eliminations to go before the end, Michael Moussis leads his table and the tournament with 532K. Laurence Louie is taking really good care of his own table, with 465K to his name. Their closest rivals have around 300K, but as we know, things change fast when blinds are this high, especially when short-handed play is involved. A list of Day 1C qualifiers will be published shortly after our 11th place bubble is decided.

Day 1c of the Grand Prix Canada Event is passed the half-way mark, and some players have already gathered some nice stacks. It is so for David Bonneau (pictured in front), who leads the way with 150,500. However, quite a few players are gnawing at him, standing close-by. Lavoie Jobin’s great start crumbled and he was unfortunately eliminated, only to be replaced in the lead by Bonneau, another frequent local achiever.

The table below shows all players with more than 100K in chips, and is followed by photographs of levels 11 and 12.
