The first break is now behind us, and the final numbers are out. This afternoon flight attracted 93 players, which was also the number for Day 1B, last night’s flight. This means that 10 players will bag chips, halting this flight right before the formation of the final table. Lavoie Jobin is a regular achiever at Playground Poker Club, and we will survey his progression in this Event.

Here are some shots taken moments before the break:

Attendance in Day 1C is growing nicely, and could even surpass last night’s flight. 74 players have joined so far, with more than an hour to go before registration closes.

Dealers and players alike are getting ready for the start of Day 1C, which is in just a few moments. It is expected that the number of entries will grow noticeably as the tournament progresses, as the urgency to qualify builds up. Yesterday’s Live flights saw a total of 149 players, 16 of which bagged chips. Qualifiers continue to accumulate as Live and online flights take off daily, and will meet on Sunday’s Day 2. This afternoon’s flight will see around 40 players start on time, which indicates a total that will blow yesterday’s 56 entries out of the water.

Late registration ends at 2:15pm, leaving plenty of time for you to make your way to Playground Poker Club and battle it out for a few hours. The number of Day 2 seats awarded is unlimited, so come get yours!

Day 1a is a wrap

2017/04/25 - 19:55 by Jôle Simard

Day 1a, the opening flight of the Grand Prix Canada Event, just concluded with Michel Georges Alam bagging the biggest stack, as a result of the last hand of play. His Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs held up nicely against his opponents’ Jack of Clubs Jack of Spades and 6 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds. It is in that matter that Sylvain Lepage and Terence Caulcutt were eliminated on the qualification bubble.

The following table lists our Day 2 qualifiers and their reported stacks. These players are the first to qualify through a Live Day 1, and their names are added to the 51 online qualifiers that have been rounded so far. Many more will join this club, as 15 more starting flights will be held throughout the week, both online and live.

On the last hand before the break, Patrick Girard was eliminated in 11th place, bringing this flight to the final table. 6 of our remaining 10 players will bag chips onto Day 2, so things are getting serious. Pascal Monarque and Arnold Yaxley (featured image) are leading the final.

With only 2 tables left in Day 1a of the Grand Prix, players are getting close to the goods. Pascal Monarque leads the 16-player field, with about 200K. The rest of the chips are spread out somewhat evenly, with quite a few players between 100K and 160K, and a few short stacks.
