Day 1F has just completed 9 levels of play and the field is now down to 93 players. The night will come to an end once the field is widdled down to the final 15 players, who then qualify their stack onto Day 2.

All players in Day 2 are considered to be “in the money”, as players receive a cash prize of $400 at the end of every flight where they successfully bag some chips (if a player bags more than one stack, only the biggest will move forward to Day 2, but they will receive the $400 prize for every stack).

Visit the Grand Prix Canada Day 1 combined results page to view the updated list of players who have qualified for Day 2 – this table is updated after the completion of every flight.

The live flights to the Grand Prix Canada have been growing as we come closer to Day 2, which is often the case. Tonight’s Day 1F was the biggest flight to date, having attracted a total of 150 runners, which in turn will send 15 more stacks into Day 2. We can expect tomorrow’s evening flight to be even more popular, and Saturday’s 3 flights should see a big turnout as well.

The total number of entries is now up to 1,105, excluding the online flight which is currently running on partypoker.net (with late registration still open). This number represents less than half of the guarantee for the Event with only 8 more flights to go – 3 online and 5 live. Whether the $500,000 guarantee will be reached is still up in the air, but one thing is for certain: this tournament is a great value for the players!

Day 1F is into level 7, and during the short break that just passed us we took a walk around the room to find the biggest stacks. Danick Landriault has made the most of the first 6 levels of play and has more than quadrupled his starting stack up to 121,200. Dan Vigderhous is the only other player to have breached the 6-figures and currently holds 101,725, while Joshua Frazer James rounds the top 3 with a stack of 91,675.

Registration in Day 1F will close at 9:15pm

The Grand Prix Canada rolls on tonight with Day 1F, which is the 6th live starting flight of 11 total. There were also 17 flights hosted on partypoker.net, of which 3 have not been completed yet. The total number of entries so far (excluding tonight’s flights) is of 955, which is a little behind pace to meet the $500,000 guarantee boasted by the house. History does indicate that the later flights often see much higher number of entries, and we can therefore expect the Friday and Saturday flights to be quite busy.

You can visit the information page for the Grand Prix Canada to view the schedule for this kick-off event to the Playground Poker Spring Classic. To see a list of already qualified players for Day 2, visit the Grand Prix Canada Day 1 Combined Results.

As per usual, late registration will remain open through until the end of the first break of the night, and players will have until 9:15pm to register. So far 50 players are already in their seats as the start of level 1, with more joining in every minute.

See you on the felts!

14 players bag chips at the end of Day 1D

2017/04/27 - 3:55 by Playground Poker

Another flight of the Grand Prix Canada is in the books as Day 1D has recently come to a close. Of the 131 that started the night, 14 players bagged a stack onto Day 2, collecting a prize of $400 along the way. They will join the other qualifiers on Sunday as they compete for the lion-share of the $500,000 guaranteed prize-pool.

The biggest stack of the flight belongs to Karim Abdelhamid, who turned his 30,000 starting stack into an impressive 747,200. This places him in the top 3 stacks overall thus far. Mathieu Ducharme (642,500) and Dominic Chagon (500,400) also broke the half a million mark. Below are the counts from Day 1D of the Grand Prix Canada.
