Play is almost ready to begin in the first Live starting day in the Grand Prix Canada, the first partypoker LIVE event to be held in North America! The event is a $200 + $20 NL Hold’em tournament that features 17 online Day 1s – 12 of which have already been held – and another 11 Live Day 1s.
The first of these Live Day 1s is Day 1A and it’s set to get underway in just a few minutes. The opening flights of a tournament like this are always relatively leisurely affairs – but with 51 players already qualified for Day 2, there will be a little bit of urgency among the players interested in the event to not only qualify – but to do so with as large a stack as possible!
This is a next-day re-entry event, with a player’s best stack moving to Day 2, so all players are welcome to join as many Day 1s as they wish in order to build up the largest stack possible, and will cash $400 for every qualified stack as they go. With the current chip leader already brushing up against the 1M chip mark – online qualifier Victor Artemenko amassed 990K in his Day 1 – players have a very high target in sight.
Players will begin with 30,000 tournament chips and play will continue on each Live Day 1 until 10% of the field remains.
Good luck to everyone playing today!
