It’s a beautiful Thursday morning and the Grand Prix Canada continues to roll along, picking up steam as both Live and Online starting flights continue through Saturday. With the weekend quickly approaching, today’s Day 1 may be the last of the “relatively calm” Day 1s on the schedule as attendance figures are expected to ramp up significantly through Friday and then all day Saturday.
And ramp up it should, because with a $500,000 Guarantee, the Grand Prix Canada is about as big a tournament as possible for a low $200 + $20 buy-in. So far there have been 850 entries in the event, which means the prize pool is still in the Overlay Zone with over 1500 more entries needed to hit the guarantee.
Play in Day 1E begins in 35 minutes and players start with 30,000 tournament chips and play through 20 minute levels until 10% of the starting field on the day remains. This 10% (rounded up) will each make $400 for their efforts on the day and then bag up their stacks to return to play on Day 2. Remember, this is a next day re-entry event and players may attempt to qualify as many times as they like – and book a $400 prize for each time they manage to qualify for Day 2. On Day 2, a player who has qualified multiple times will keep their best stack to put into play.
Good luck to everyone today!
