Surveying the tables, we came across a hand that propelled Poorya Nazari into the current top 5 stacks. James Romero open-raised to 31K from the under-the-gun position, and watched Won Taek Lim, sitting on his immediate left, 3-bet him to 100K. Action was folded around until Nazari 4-bet from the small blind to 300K.
Romero went to the tank, and after so much action, it was easy to guess that he was holding a very big starting hand. He asked to see Nazari’s stack, thought some more, and finally committed all of his chips into the pot, going from an initial 2.5x raise to a 5-bet all-in. Lim quickly jumped out, and Nazari called even quicker.

Nazari was covered by about 900K, while his own 1.7M was at risk. The board came out , and Romero’s stack was so demoted to just under 1M. Nazari, however, now enjoys a very nice top-of-the-leaderboard 3.5M stack.
