Day 1G in The Grand Prix Canada was the most crowded of our afternoon flights, with 131 players showing up despite the incredibly nice weather. This brings the total number at 1271, just past the half-way mark of the number needed to meet the guarantee.

Some players have already built some very nice stacks. Michael Petratta is first and only player so far to have breached the 100K mark, showing 104,500, and is followed by André Maurice, not too far behind, with a stack of 97,500. Besides these too builders, no one is above 80K… but the day is young!

Players are entering level 5, and registration has slowed down a little bit, causing the tournament to offer even more value! There is about 50 minutes left to the late registration period, which is plenty of time for you claim your share of this 500K guarantee!

As expected, action is picking up substantially in the Grand Prix Canada. Day 1G is just at the end of level 2, and the field is already pushing 100 players. Attendance is expected to explode tonight and all day Saturday, but it doesn’t seem like it will be enough to cover the guarantee, allowing all Day 2 qualifiers to enjoy the extra value brought by the almost-certain overlay.

Incredible poker value going into Day 1G

2017/04/28 - 11:47 by

The 7th of 11 Live starting flights in the partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Canada is set to begin shortly and this tournament is shaping up to present an incredible value for poker players!

With 21 starting flights already in the books – 15 online and 6 live – we have only collected $228,000 of the prize pool, which is guaranteed at $500,000. With just 5 live and 2 online Day 1s remaining, it’s starting to look like players may have found their Pot of Gold – a huge overlay! It will take an average of over 250 players per live starting flight to meet the $500,000 guarantee.

What’s an overlay, you ask? When there’s a prize pool guarantee, the overlay is the amount that has to be made up between the prize pool generated by buy-ins and the guaranteed amount. It’s a great value for players because the tournament is just a little bit easier to navigate with fewer players in the field – but the prize pool remains the same!

Play in Day 1G gets underway at Noon today with late registration open until 2:15pm. If you want to take a shot at an amazing prize pool, today and tomorrow are your final opportunities. Remember this is a next-day re-entry event (best stack forward) as well – you can play as many times as you want to build up the biggest stack possible for Day 2.

Good luck!
