With only 2 tables left in Day 1a of the Grand Prix, players are getting close to the goods. Pascal Monarque leads the 16-player field, with about 200K. The rest of the chips are spread out somewhat evenly, with quite a few players between 100K and 160K, and a few short stacks.

Here are some of their pictures:

As you can see in the following pictures, some players are having quite a bit of fun. It is a very relaxed atmosphere, but most players keep their objective in mind.

Small buy-in; Big players!

Considering the relatively modest $200 + $20 buy-in for the Grand Prix Canada, there are some big-time poker players in the field, led by partypoker Ambassador Tony Dunst. Here’s a tweet he shared earlier today:

Players have taken their first break of the day, and are now looking forward to being one of the 6 players who will bag chips this afternoon. Sean Raboy spun his wheels early, and has a comfortable lead with a stack of 82,500. He is followed by Éric Bigras, who has 70,500 chips, as the other players are all below the 60K mark. Tony Dunst was eliminated on the last hand before the break, and is now shooting chips at the cash games.

56 players rounded up for this opening flight, and 6 of them will join the 51 that have already clinched a Day-2 spot online. 5 more online flights will be held, that is one every night until Saturday, along with 10 more live flights to choose from, here at Playground Poker Club. Day 2 will be held on Sunday at 1pm.
