So far there are only 4 players who have really taken a lead on the field, and only one of them is playing a stack greater than 2x the average – so everyone’s chips remain very much in play as the day move past the half-way mark.

With the end of the break following level 6 comes the end of late registration in the Live starting flights in the partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Canada. Registration in this final flight continued right until the very last minute, but when the books were closed, there were 307 runners in this flight, adding up to a total of 2,526 total live entries! The very last opportunity to qualify for Day 2 is in the final online flight, which began on partypoker at 9:00pm. Late registration is still open for just about one more hour.

Stack size update in Day 1J

The payers inboxed Day 1J were recently away from the tables on a break and we surveyed the stacks to find the current leaders in the flight. The chip leader is currently Jeffrey Ruetz, who has already accumulated a 323K stack, while table-mate Marc Touloute isn’t far behind with 237K. Just one more player, Kathy Sawers, is over the 200K mark at this point.

Day1I is in the books

The 9th of 11 live starting days began today at 12:00pm and wrapped up with a whopping 34 players qualified for Day 2. The total was so high because the level of participation was so high – with 332 players entered, the 10% of the field (rounded up) cut off was 34.

Everyone who survived into the final 34 has received a $400 prize in their partypoker account and is invited back to play in Day 2 of the event tomorrow at 1:00pm.

Day 1K was delayed by 30 minutes, but things got underway at 7:30 and now the tournament has played just about all of the way through the first 2 levels. Demand has proven high for this final Live starting flight – as expected – as there are already 231 players at the tables – and more joining in every few minutes.

Registration will continue to be available until 9:45pm, following which time registration in Live Starting flights will be officially closed for the tournament. Play will then continue tonight until 10% of the field remains – we’ll announce the final number when it is available.
