Play is now well underway on Day 2 of the Million, and it appears that new Day 2 entries are much more popular than anyone anticipated – there are already 118 players that have chosen to buy in today. It’s so popular, in fact, that the tournament desk is currently seating alternates.
We should note that we do have experience with tournaments this popular, so tournament staff is being careful to make sure new entries are distributed throughout the tournament.
After a short delay to ensure all was ready for Day 2, and an opening speech from Mike Sexton and John Duthie, cards are now in the air here in Day 2 of the partypoker Million North America!
So far there are 42 Day 2 entries with late registration open through until the end of the first break.
With all of the preliminary days now over, the partypoker Million North America moves on to Day 2 with 422 entries as of late last night including 405 Day 1 qualifiers and another 17 new entries – a number that has already been augmented by 9 this morning and should continue to grow throughout the first 2 levels of play.
Play today will feature 75 minute long blind levels and will continue through 8 levels of play. The table draw was made 9-handed and an open seat was left on a lot of the starting tables to accommodate new Day 2 entries, but keep in mind that if demand is high, the 10th seat will have to be used. Nevertheless, the goal is to keep play 9-way to the greatest extent possible, and to move to 8-handed play soon after registration closes. There is limited space in the Tournament Hall, so unfortunately there is no choice – in Playground tournaments, we do everything possible within the rules to accommodate every player that wants to join.
Action to start the day is certain to be fierce as some of the small stacks make a huge effort to grow their holdings and set up a deep run, while the large stacks are SO deep that it’s possible some players may “splash around” a little while the day is young. Table 40 looks to be one of the places to find early action, as it includes 3 players with over 5,000,000 in chips and two players – Dilovan Hussein and Julian Milliard-Feral, who will start with over 7M in chips. In addition, Table 40 includes 3 very talented local players (Ami Alibay, Charles-Eric Benoit, and WPT Montreal Champion Jonathan Roy) plus at least one top-flight travelling pro, Keven Stammen.
Chips are sure to be flying throughout the Tournament Hall on all of the tables though when action gets underway in about 45 minutes. And we’ll be covering it all right here on the Playground Poker Live Events Blog.

The results are now in from all four Day 1s in the partypoker Million North America – 2 Online and 2 Live. The following table is the official seating draw for Day 2 of this event, which is set to restart at 12:00pm on May 7th.
There were 407 players from all 4 Day 1s that qualified a stack into Day 2. However, 2 players qualified two different stacks into Day 1 (Stephen Joudry and Presten Cloutier). The smaller of each of these 2 players’ stacks will be reserved in bags in case either player would like to re-enter before the end of late registration at the end of level 2.
This leaves 405 qualified stacks for Day 2, to which we have added 17 new buy-in stacks, adding up to a total of 422 players who will be seated from the beginning of Day 2. In addition, Seat 2 at each table has been set aside to accommodate additional Day 2 entries. If there is no option, additional entries will be seated at seat 10, but otherwise the tournament can be considered to be 9-handed to begin Day 2 and will move to 8-handed once registration closes after level 2.
Play will begin on Day 2 in level 11, but with blinds at the values from level 7 (10K/20K/a2K) at 12:00pm in the Tournament Hall at Playground Poker Club.

Day 1B of the Million North America was a tremendous success. 589 entries were accounted for, and with yesterday’s 372, we now have 961 entries live, and 46 entries online, for total of 1005! This number is not quite final, as registration will re-open tomorrow for a duration of 2 levels, after which we will be able to publish the official prize pool and payouts.
256 players bagged chips today, and will join the 137 that made the cut in Day 1A, as well as the 17 combined Day 2 qualifiers from the online starting flights. These numbers possibly contain duplicates, so we cannot at this moment add them to know the number of players that will start tomorrow, but the size of the Day 2 field and the seating arrangements will be published tonight.
As far as the results of Day 1B are concerned, the full list has been added to the Combined Day 1 Results list, but Mike Vesia (8,200,000), Rodney Ramalho (8,100,000), and Kelly Kellner (7,519,000) all moved into the overall top 5 with Mike and Rodney in the #1 and #2 position overall. Lurking right behind these leaders, however is the hugely talented Darren Elias with 6,885,000.
