Day 1A sends 137 players to Day 2 – Sylvain Siebert bags the lead

2017/05/06 - 0:49 by Jôle Simard

Day 1A in the Million North America has now come to a close. This first of 2 Live flights welcomed 372 players, and when the dust had settled, 137 players bagged their chips onto Day 2.

Tomorrow is Day 1B of the Event, and we can expect a great number of registrations, as the Saturday flight is always the most crowded. The last satellite is unfolding as we write these lines, and will award 24 seats for Day 1B. Also, Sit ‘n Gos and Flip ‘n Gos continue to run on demand, and constantly add seats into tomorrow’s starting flight. In other words, Day 1B will be adding a vast crowd of Day 2 qualifiers to today’s list, building a very nice field for Sunday’s Day 2.

Sylvain Siebert ended the day with the biggest stack. He has been moving a lot of chips, all day, every orbit. His table was by far the heaviest, and Dilovan Hussein, who finished 4th in chips, sparred with him quite a lot as the levels went by.

Here is a look at our top 5 stacks for Day 1A:

  • Sylvain Siebert – 7,744,000
  • Nipun Java – 7,387,000
  • Julian Milliard-Feral – 7,252,000
  • Dilovan Hussein – 7,200,000
  • Vojtech Ruzicka – 7,124,000

See you tomorrow!

Partypoker is throwing a players party at the Rail

2017/05/05 - 22:56 by Jôle Simard

At the Rail Coal Fire Bistro, partypoker is currently having a players party. Drinks are offered to our players, and if you make your way over there, you will be able to admire a magnificent ice sculpture, bearing the partypoker logo and the Event’s brand name.

Head over to the Rail for some drinks!

Dilovan Hussein leads the heaviest table

Dilovan Hussein (title picture) was the early chip leader in the partypoker Million North America, but slowed down for a few hours. He is now back on top, leading the tournament, and sitting on the heaviest table of the Event.

On his table, you can find 6 players with over 3M in chips, including 3 that are sitting on more than 5M. With the current average at 2M, it is safe to say that ammunition is flying over there. It is believed that Sylvain Siebert (about 3.5M at the moment) has a lot to do with it, being a jolly chip mover, but Francis Lavallée and Patrick Eskandar also seem to be very active.

While Dilovan Hussein works his 6,615,000 stack with flair on that table, Philippe D’Auteuil continues to crush his own. He has been moved to a new one, which suffers the same yoke. He is at 6,120,000 in chips.

Big tournament; big players

2017/05/05 - 21:43 by

It’s obvious that the bigger the event, the bigger the names of the players who participate, but for two local players, this has been taken to an extreme. Brian Morgan and Yannick Labattaglia are both talented local players with both experience and skill behind them, but their table-mates for most of the day have been a who’s who of tournament poker in the past few years.

In seat 1 is Ema Zajmovic, a WPT Champion and previous final tablist in the last two such events here at Playground Poker Club. Then in seat 4 is Niall Farrell, an EPT Champion, and next to him is Brian Altman, a WSOP-C Main Event Champion and former WPT final tableist. And then the table gets even harder. To Brian’s left is Samuel Panzica, who has won 2 WPT championships in the past year, and none other than Vojtek Rusicka, November Niner and the most recent partypoker LIVE Millions High Roller Champion! And that’s not to ignore Ian O’Hara and Peter Jetten, both extremely accomplished tournament players with years of published results. If that’s not enough, before we were there, Christian Harder was also seated there. Not a spot among them!

The $530 + $20 Flip ‘n Gos are back!

2017/05/05 - 20:21 by Jôle Simard

For those of you who are looking for a quick and easy way into the Million North America, Flip ‘n Gos are your best bet! For $530 + $20, with a little bit of luck, you  can earn your seat for tomorrow’s Day 1B in a fun and dramatic fashion.

2 or 4 cards (most crowds agree to 4) are being dealt to every player, who keep them face down, and then the board is revealed. At that point, starting from seat 1, every player open 1 card at a time, until they beat the previous highest hand, or lose. When all players but one have mucked their cards, the winner is decided, and presents his player card to collect the Main Event seat.

Flip ‘n Gos will be running until the end of registration in Day 1B, tomorrow.

The winner peeling his boat card!

Dinner break in the Million North America – Leaderboard update

  • Chip Average: 1.6M
  • Remaining: 227
  • Entries: 372

Players are now enjoying a much deserved dinner break in the partypoker Million North America Event. A warm buffet is displayed near the bar in the tournament hall, and our players are happily digging in.

Registration is now closed for Day 1A, and along with the 90 Phase 1 stacks that were placed on the tables before the start, 282 players registered today, for a total of 372 entries in this first of 2 flights.

During the dinner break, we updated the leaderboard, and found that recent changes allowed a transition in the leadership. Sylvain Siebert lost about 2M in the third stint, now working with just a little over 3M. The pole position now belongs to Srinivas Gottiparthi, who is sitting at the ”action table” of the Event (along with Guillaume Nolet and Karim Abdelhamid), where 3 of the top 10 stacks are going at it. It is one of the next tables to break, so these riches will soon be sprinkled over the hall.

Philippe D’Auteuil (title picture) has climbed to the second spot. He is seen in the photo below, collecting the fruits of one of his many wins.

The following table lists the top of the leaderboard, and is followed by some of their photos:
