30 players will qualify to the Million in today’s Phase 1

Once registration closed in today’s Phase 1, the board showed a total count of 299 entries (253 players, 46 re-entires), of which 30 will move a stack forward to the partypoker Million North America.

Players will have another chance to qualify tonight with a $530 + $50 satellite scheduled at 8pm, featuring a guarantee of 10 seats. Unlike the Phase 1, tonight’s tournament is a satellite – meaning the final stack will not be moved forward, but instead the players will earn a $5000 + $300 seat where they will begin the Million with the 1,000,000 starting stack.

This is shaping up to be the largest Phase 1 yet as the final group of players is vying to make their way into Day 1 using this innovative new type of tournament. So far there are 245 total entries, and registration continues until the end of level 6 so that number is sure to grow.

Chao bags over 3 million as today’s Phase 1 comes to a close

This afternoon’s Phase 1 tournament is now complete, and 26 players have bagged chips onto Day 1 of the partypoker Million North America from a starting field of 266 entries. The count was supposed to be 27 players, but there was a 3-way all-in during hand for hand play at the end of the day, and 2 players were eliminated, leaving just 26 stacks to be taken by players to Day 1.

Sammy Chao ended the flight with an impressive 3,149,000 chip stack, which is the biggest stack to date coming from a Phase 1. Ryan Smith bagged the second biggest stack from this flight with 2,366,500, while Hugo Dumoulin rounds the top 3 with 1,838,500. The full counts of the 26 qualifiers will be added to the Phase 1 Results page once the bagging process has been completed.

Another 27 stacks will go to Day 1

Registration has closed in today’s $550 Phase 1 tournament in the partypoker Million North America and with 230 entries plus 36 re-entries, they’re going to play down to the final 27 players today, each of whose finishing stack will be carried forward to the Day 1 of their choice.

The final $550 Phase 1 begins tomorrow at 11:00am, with late registration continuing until 2:15 as usual (6 levels plus breaks).

The Wednesday Phase 1 is underway

Today is the 2nd of 3 final $550 Phase 1 tournaments in the partypoker Million North America. The tournament is currently in level 4, and registrations today have already outstripped yesterday’s strong figures, with 199 players having already taken their seats with 2 2+ levels of late reg still available. There have also been 4 re-entries, bringing the entry total past the 200 mark. This means there will be at least 21 seats in the $5,000 + $300 Million North America event won today which will bring the grand total for all Phase 1s so far to 200 qualified stacks.

If you’re not familiar with the Phase 1 concept, it’s a new innovation in partypoker LIVE events that allows players to join a small buy-in event and play their way to a seat in the larger tournament – in this case the Million North America – but instead of just winning a seat, they win the entry in the tournament AND take their finishing stack forward with them.

For the $550 event, players start with 100,000 tournament chips and play down to 10% of the field remaining. This should take approximately 22 30-minute levels to complete, and when the end of the Phase 1 has been reached these qualifiers will be added to the Phase 1 Results page.
