Attention turns to the Million North America

The action is still hot in Grand Prix Canada, but with play winding down in Day 2, attention now turns to the $5,000 + $300 partypoker Million North America. There’s an online Day 1 being held on partypoker right now, and tonight was the first in a series of 5 Phase 1 tournaments in the event.

Phase 1 tournaments are one of the principle innovations in partypoker LIVE events. A Phase 1 tournament is a little like an event satellite, and success gives players a seat in Day 1 of the Million North America – but it’s also a little different, in that players who succeed in a Phase 1 carry their stack forward to the big event. The average stack at the end of a Phase 1 event is the same and the starting stack in a Day 1 – but individual players may have more or less than the 1 Million chip average.

All in all, Phase 1s represent a great new way to play your way in to a big tournament for a small buy-in. Tonight’s Phase 1, for instance, had a buy-in of just $275. It attracted 118 entries and 32 re-entries, and each started with 50,000 tournament chips. It will play down until 5% of the field remains – 8 players – when the average stack will be almost exactly 1M chips. At that point the Phase 1 will end and each of the remaining players will carry their final stack forward to the Day 1 of their choice.

New Satellites Announced

Our friends at partypoker have announced the final series of online satellites for the partypoker Million North America. There will be 10 seats guaranteed from Monday to Friday at 9:00pm – an incredible opportunity to win your way into the largest event in Canadian poker history!

First up, however, is the final Sunday Satellite, set to begin on April 30th at 6:00pm. With an incredible 20 seats guaranteed, this is the culmination of the satellite program that has run for the past few weeks on partypoker. Don’t forget that every player can enter and re-enter both of the Live starting days, so having a “spare” satellite seat in your back pocket definitely can’t hurt!

Once that one is done, attention will turn to the daily satellites being held all next week. There’s a great feeder satellite program in place next week to give players the chance to win their way in the $5,300 Million North America for as little as one penny. You can start at any level – $0.01, $5.50, $22, or $109 and if you succeed at one level, you’ll be auto-registered for the next. If all else fails, each day there will be a final $109 Hyper-Turbo Feeder for that night’s $530 satellite. However you get there, this final run of satellites is one of the best ways to book your slot in this terrific partypoker LIVE event.

Online Day 1A is in the books

The first of the 4 total Day 1 starting flights in the partypoker Million North America began at 9:00pm yesterday evening (April 23rd) and after 10 levels of play, 12 players remained who have qualified for Day 2. Day 2 will be held live here at Playground Poker Club on Sunday, May 7th at 12:00pm.

Brazilian player Norson Saho set the pace for Day 1, finishing the night with a huge stack of 6,394,000 in tournament chips. He was followed by Alexis Urli who booked 4,206,000 for Day 2 and Rami Hammoud with 3,357,000. Note that all stacks have been rounded up to the next 1,000 in chips – the smallest denomination chip that will be in play to begin Day 2.

The partypoker Million North America allows an entry and a re-entry per Day 1. Also, any player that played online Day 1A is allowed to play in Online Day 1B (April 30th) or Live Day 1A or Live Day 1B on May 5th and 6th. In the case of a player who qualifies for Day 2 multiple times, all of their qualifying stacks will be included in the Day 1 Combined results page. The tournament is best-stack-forward following Level 2 on Day 2 – final closing time for all re-entries – at which point each player will only have a single entry in the results lists that will be published. If a player qualified more than once and lost his chips in the first 2 levels, he may use his second biggest qualified stack as a re-entry.

The partypoker Million North America starts today!

Today is the first of two Online Day 1s in the partypoker Million North America! Play will get underway on partypoker at 9pm EDT.

This tournament includes several Phase 1 starting flights and of the more than 140 Phase 1 seats that have been won so far, about 10% of these players have confirmed to play in today’s Day 1 flight. If you have not yet confirmed but would like to play tonight, we encourage you to join the partypoker LIVE Canada group on Facebook, where you will find the following message from Nicola Veitch from partypoker LIVE:

Tonight 9pm EDT is the first Online Day 1 for partypoker Million North America $5M GTD… I’m excited!!
If you have won a stack via an online phase 1 please let me know ASAP that you want to play tonight as we need to add you manually – we can late reg you but better to sort in advance for you 🙂
If you have won a $5,300 ticket online then you can register yourself by looking for the tournament: Live Events > Playground > pp Million North America > sort by buy in $4,000 USD
You will play 10 x 24 min levels online and carry your chips through to Day 2 on May 7th!
