The WPT500, Event #1 in the WPT Montreal, is in full swing with 3 online and 4 live starting flights already in the books. Yesterday – the second full day of Live Day 1s in the event – was massive. There were 653 entries spread across Days 1C and 1D. When added to the earlier Day 1s in the tournament, this brings the total number of entries so far to 1,286.
Today is the third full day of starting flights in the event, with Day 1E scheduled to begin at 12:00pm and Day 1F following at 6:00pm. Both flights will play through 16 levels of 30 minutes each, with breaks following every 4th level. Players will start with 30,000 in tournament chips, and every player will be shooting for a coveted spot in Day 2 in the event.
Current chip leader Mike Lafable has set an impressive target – he accumulated a huge stack of 670,000 chips on Day 1B. The chip average, however, is a much more modest 161,000 – definitely within reach. And if you don’t succeed to qualify through either of today’s starting flights – there will be one additional chance in the Turbo Day 1G on Monday at 10:00am. Anyone that really wants to reach Day 2 still has plenty of opportunities to try!
Tournament staff are just making their opening announcements, and will kick off the action in just moments with the famous command to the dealers: Shuffle Up and Deal! And just like that, cards will begin to fly in Day 1E of the WPT500.
Good luck to all of the players in the event today!
