Edward Arnold bet 800 after the hole cards were dealt. Linda Huard, sitting to Edward’s left, called. Francis Milard was next to act and raised to 2,200. Both Linda and Edward called.

The flop revealed 9 of Hearts King of Diamonds 4 of Clubs. Francis didn’t hesitate, wagering 2,600 chips. Linda called and Edward folded. When the 4 of Clubs was dealt Francis wagered 5,000 and once again Linda called.  On the river the dealer turned a Queen of Spades. Edward pushed another 5,000 into the pot. Linda, once again, called.

But when Francis turned a King of Clubs Ace of Hearts, Linda shook her head, pushing her cards back to the dealer, face down.

Alonzi wins with a set of 7s

    2018/10/28 | 13:10 by Playground Poker

Bruno Fortin raised 700 preflop late during level 2.  Seven of the remaining 8 players at the table folded except for Mark Alonzi. After Mark called, the dealer turned over the flop: 8 of Clubs Jack of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds. Both players checked. The turn revealed a 7 of Spades. Mark pushed 2,200 chips into the pot and Bruno called. On the river, after the dealer flipped a Jack of Clubs, Mark wagered 3,000, and Bruno pondered for a moment before he called. When Mark turned over his 7 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts, revealing his set of 7s, Bruno shook his head and pushed his cards, face down, back to the dealer.

The WPT500, Event #1 in the WPT Montreal, is in full swing with 3 online and 4 live starting flights already in the books. Yesterday – the second full day of Live Day 1s in the event – was massive. There were 653 entries spread across Days 1C and 1D. When added to the earlier Day 1s in the tournament, this brings the total number of entries so far to 1,286.

Today is the third full day of starting flights in the event, with Day 1E scheduled to begin at 12:00pm and Day 1F following at 6:00pm. Both flights will play through 16 levels of 30 minutes each, with breaks following every 4th level. Players will start with 30,000 in tournament chips, and every player will be shooting for a coveted spot in Day 2 in the event.

Current chip leader Mike Lafable has set an impressive target – he accumulated a huge stack of 670,000 chips on Day 1B. The chip average, however, is a much more modest 161,000 – definitely within reach. And if you don’t succeed to qualify through either of today’s starting flights – there will be one additional chance in the Turbo Day 1G on Monday at 10:00am. Anyone that really wants to reach Day 2 still has plenty of opportunities to try!

Tournament staff are just making their opening announcements, and will kick off the action in just moments with the famous command to the dealers: Shuffle Up and Deal! And just like that, cards will begin to fly in Day 1E of the WPT500.

Good luck to all of the players in the event today!

    Jonathan Little and Mike Sexton
